BawlmerOreos
No one's going anywhere. The bigger question is, when they eventually do add a 12th member (ND, Pitt, Mizzou among those rumored in the past) what do they do to the name? Big 12 is already taken. Big 10 with 2 extra schools is even sillier than it is now with one extra. Frank Creative
DDR
They won't do anything with the name in the event they add another school. It'll stay the Big Ten. I don't see it as a big deal that there's more than 10 schools anyway. It's just one of those little quirks.
rams80
This logo may represent 11 teams, but it has WAY more than 11 colors. The cost for making screenprinted merchandise -- like t-shirts, a sports merchandising staple -- bearing that logo will be ridiculous. That will either mean that they have to charge a higher-than-normal price for the shirts or sell them for the standard price and make a considerably lower profit. When it comes to the design of such event logos, keeping the amount of colors to a dull roar is something that one should have learned in Sports Merchandising 101. It's a shame that nobody involved in this logo development ever took that "class" because, in the end, the client will pay. What do you expect from the crew that brought you "The Big Ten Network"? DrBear
If the Western Athletic Conference can include Louisiana Tech...If the Big East can be a BCS conference while having Notre Dame for every sport EXCEPT football... the Big Ten can have 11 or 12 teams. STL FANATIC
Well one would have thought, using basic logic, a basketball league called the 'Big Ten' would have Ten teams and not Eleven. Big Eleven would make sense if there's 11 teams. That's logical.Penn State sucks too much to even be considered a real 'team'.In basketball, true enough. Overall, though, I'd say Northwestern could go and everything would pretty much go on as usual. Except, the rest of the conference wouldn't have that built-in win in their schedule.Northwestern seems like a logical choice, but it's never gonna happen, and here's why: They are an original member of the Big Ten.In addition to that...here's why: They're ridiculously good academically. There may be a lot in regards to money and sports and all that, but the BigTen still cares greatly about academics, and Northwestern is very deserving.
