TBGKon
I don't know where he'll be going, but I'm pretty sure it won't be the Mets. Reason: they already have an All-Star 3rd baseman in David Wright and a "young-but-established" shortstop in Jose Reyes.Rumblings are out that if A-Rod is to go to the Mets, Wright goes to 1B and Delgado gets bumped. But thats just speculative
Thad
I would love if the Braves signed A-Rod and moved Chipper back to the OF. But alas, we don't have deep pockets anymore, so the Braves can be counted out.I think A-Rod is going to suprise us in where he is gonna go. No one thought'd he go to Texas, and he ended up there. But I'm gonna say he ends up in Chicago (with either the Sox or Cubs) or LA (with the Angels) Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% about how you react to it.App State Mountaineers / Alabama Crimson Tide / Atlanta Braves / New York Jets / Atlanta Hawks "If you believe in yourself and have dedication and pride - and never quit, you'll be a winner. Mac the Knife
I can see it now...Make it happen, Tony Reagins. Can you do one of those with him in a Pirate uniform? Swiss
So the Yankees arch-nemeses are six outs away from their second World Championship in four seasons, and one of the best players of all time decides to leave them rather than accept the Yankees' reportedly astronomical extension offer. Oh, fun.Are the Red Sox the arch-nemeses of the Yankees? Let me laugh out loud. The Yankees hadn't any arch-nemeses. infrared41
Artie Moreno isn't going to spend that type of money on one player. He's too smart for that. He could sign three players who are actually worth the money for what it would cost to get A-Rod. The Angels don't need him as a draw. They can fill a bunch of holes with the money it would cost to sign him. It's either the Cubs or The Red Sox. The Sox have the money to burn and The Cubs are that stupid. Any team outside NY or Boston that signs him is going to cripple themselves financially and the smart teams know that. A-Rod is great...if he's on your fantasy team. Otherwise, he's not worth the bother.
Swiss
Mmmhhh... I should had to accept that Red Sox offer in December 2003...!Well, A-Rod, had you accepted that, you would have got two World Series rings tonight. I think he is searching for a contender for 2008. Maybe the Angels. A-Rod is the new Barry Bonds: too much HRs searching a WS ring. It's great to be young and a Giant! - Larry Doyle

See Red
If the Red Sox sign him, I think we've seen the last of Manny being Manny in a Red Sox uniform.I love Lowell, but A-Rod is A-Rod and it ain't my money they're spending... if Lowell is willing to settle for two years, the Red Sox, the decision to keep Lowell comes a lot easier. Right now, though... I'm not sure. There's some options the Sox would maybe be willing to consider.Either way, A-Rod not playing for the Yankees anymore is a great!... until October. GFB
I guess I will start the "bring A-Rod to Detroit" campaign. I think Detroit would be the perfect landing spot for a couple of reasons...- Carlos Guillen will be moving to first base permanently this season, leaving an opening at shortstop.- Detroit has one of the largest Latino-based teams in the MLB.- Detroit has become home to many abused athletes over the past couple of years. The city loves to get behind guys like A-Rod and would welcome him with open arms.I just hope that the Mr. Illitch won't be afraid to take a risk on a player like A-Rod who demands an extremely large contract. I really pray that money won't be an issue for the Tigers....

And I can't think of any example where a guy's gone from short, to third, and back to short.I'm not sure of Detroit's spending history or how willing to spend money the owners are but a $30 million pricetag only leaves a very few teams in the picture. I'd like to see the Brewers, if Braun or Hardy wouldn't mind playing in the outfield.Seriously, I think that he will go to the Angels, and hopefully not the Cubs. And I certainly can't blame him for opting out of a team who boos him at home when he has a below average game. But if that can all go away with a little more money, I think a guy named Brian CASHman could possibly get it done... quite fitting that he works for the Yankees, right? For the love of the game, A-Rod, restore the competitive advantage and go to a mid-market! It's one thing to spend money in baseball, it's a whole different thing to spend it wisely. Compare the list of recent World Series winners to what's been going on in the NFL or NBA. tp49
Giants are going to need to do something with Bonds gone. They have to draw people in somehow and the team they have isn't going to do that. The Giants also spent way too much for Barry Zito so they're not afraid to throw money around. I wouldn't be surprised to see A-Fraud as a Giant. I wouldn't be surprised to see A-Fraud as a Giant.I really don't think that's a good idea. I know heading into the season, the Giants didn't have a single regular starter (positional player, at least) under 32 and their "window" closed two or three years ago, regardless of what those involved in the organization thought when they signed Zito. They have one of the worst farm systems in the League... other than Lincecum, what is their to look forward to in terms of youth? That $30 million would be much better spent elsewhere in my opinion... like starting over. They'd just be making the same mistake the Rangers did, in my opinion. More harm than good, that would do.
