Jigga
The Cubs have traded Jacque Jones to the Detroit Tigers for Omar Infante. Apparently, (based on the ESPN article, at least), Infante is incidental, and his inclusion in the trade is secondary to Jones leaving the Cubs.In fact, Infante is arbatration elgiable, and could be non-tendered, making this a pure salary-dump for the Cubs (they have to pay the $1 million bonus owed to JJ).Rumors have the Cubs hot on signing Japaniese FA (no posting fee) RF Kosuke Fukudome, and turning over the CF duties to Felix Pie...MooseIf they do, I'm buying his jersey...immediately. Right, because playoff stats come into play and totally matter for judging this award. Just ask last year's NL Cy Young winner, Brandon Webb. TFoA
The Braves are pursuing a reunion with Tom Glavine. Also, if you didn't know already, the Braves traded Edgar Renteria to the Tigers for two nice prospects. This should work out for the Braves since they already had young talent at that position, and the Braves have an outstanding farm system, so I'm ok with the trade. Baby.Actually Simmons once said that Sabathia was the obvious Cy Young choice.Beckett had the slight edge in most stat categories if I remember correctly, but Sabathia had a huge edge in innings. What won him the Cy Young was probably what did him in come playoff time, which is how much he was worked in the regular season. Could've gone either way. Shumway
Anyone know how accurate or how likely a 2008 tentative schedule will end up as it is? I'm asking because the Angels are currently booked to play a series in Philly in 2008. Looks like I might have a full series to attend.
