Players in the "wrong" uniforms

Recommended Posts

Since we brought up Charles Barkley, here's one that I'm sure was posted but I'll post again.

CB in the wrong uniform (I associate him with the late '80s blue block letter set) and wrong number (he selfishly took Billy Cunningham's #32 to "honor" Magic Johnson who got HIV because he was dumb.)

When these were unveiled he said that it looked like his little daughter got her hands on a box of crayons and went nuts and that he hated them.

Speaking of Barkley in the wrong uniform - why does the 76ers' banner for Barkley's retired #34 have the Iverson-era "76ers" script? Barkley never came close to playing in those uniforms.

It was changed a few years ago. It's the classic logo now.

From here on out, he'll always be better asociated with the Heat.

I was thinking about this today while they were showing some career highlights of Lebron, and it was so weird seeing him in that Cavs uni and its only been 2 years. I agree 100% with you

Speaking of Barkley (and Drexler)

Man, those Rockets uniforms were God awful. I loved them when I was a kid, but now they just look like complete crap.

In a few years this will be a wrong uniform:

If the Canes can win a Cup in the next few years I would agree with you. Otherwise, it will take several years, since Staal was a Pen for six years. Hated to see Staal go, but when a star player doesn't want to be someplace, it's best for everyone to make a move. Needless to say, the deal was too good to pass up, and Staal isn't even in the same division anymore.

I think lebron is in Kevin Garnett territory with the wolves/celtics.

Gary Carter himself said he wanted to be remembered as an Expo. There is a reason he played his last season there.

Or because no other team wanted a 45-year old catcher with "Greg Oden" knees.

He fought being inducted as an Expo.

Gary Carter was a Met, and Dave Winfield was a Yankee in my eyes. In both cases they gained their most notoriety when they moved to NY. They both should have went in with an NY on their hats.

Garnett is far and away a Celtic to me. What'd he do in Minny besides get old, exactly?

Do I even have to answer that question?? Ok well..

Played there for over 10 years, league MVP, All Star MVP, perennial All Star, led franchise to all known playoff appearances, holds many team records, NBA reboud champion, signed landmark contract, known as "The Franchise".

It's not like he wandered into Boston and became good and relevant.

The Tmberwolves will always be Garnett's "right" team in my mind. He played his best years in Minnesota.

The young man with the long-ass username is 100% correct here. Smart guy.

It'd be something different if he split his years between Minnesota and Boston, but that ain't thethe case. Mr. 20-10-and-5 made his name in Minnesota. And plus, he's only been a Celtic since what, 2008? Someone else tried to argue this same thing about Ray Allen somewhere back in this thread?that his Celtics uniform is right, and his previous two wrong, simply because he got his 'shipin ring in Boston. In the eyes of most, Ray's a Buck before either of the other two.

I really wish people would stop using championship as the absolute criteriin for "right" or "wrong".
