Players in the "wrong" uniforms

Recommended Posts

So what, we're supposed to post a pic of every single player ever traded, in this thread? C'mon. This thread's supposed to be for recognizing those times when famous players played for a team they aren't remembered for, not to post about every single player who ever gets traded.

I was ready to say this is as well. When Wandy Rodriguez retires I don't think anyone will debate whether he was a Pirate or an Astro.

This thread was great when it was "Legends in the Wrong Uniforms" and 95% of the players posted had already been retired. Now it's pretty much just a mega-thread for the individual league signings and tradings threads we usually have. Not that it's bad, it's nice seeing players in new uniforms, but it definitely peaked in the first four or so pages of this thread.

As far as Ichiro's trade, I think it's odd that Seattle would trade him to the team they are PLAYING at the time of the trade. So he just packs his stuff and walks over to the other clubhouse. That has to be odd for everyone involved. I still remember when the Pirates traded Denny Neagle to the Braves mid-series, though I am not positive if he pitched against the Bucs (but I think he did actually pitch against them the very next day after the trade), it was rumored (by Neagle himself, I think) that they traded him to the Braves during a series with the Braves in order to save travel costs. The Pirates did get Jason Schmidt out of it, though, FWIW.

Who they later traded to the Giants along with Jon Vander Wal for Armando Rios, during a series they had against the Giants in San Francisco. In fact, the very next day the Giants beat the Pirates on a walkoff error by Rios.

Exactly. Making this:

When it's all said and done Hanley will be remembered as a Florida Marlin or an LA Dodger... Unless he gets traded again.

more appropriate than this:
