Players in the "wrong" uniforms

Recommended Posts

Now I see.

That homage to the original Braves is pretty cool.

IIRC, those were based on actual Milwaukee Brewers minor league uniform from the 40s, and they were a Braves farm team at the time. Or something like that, I'm sure someone will chime in with more details.

I know this was probably posted a year ago, but Andrew Bynum never even actually played a game for the 76ers. Are there any other instances of players being introduced to the media (with a team), having a photo shoot and never playing with them??

The closest thing may have been Joe Rudi, Rollie Fingers and Vida Blue in 1976. Pics of Fingers have to be deep in this thread, but I couldn't find any good authentic pictures of Rudi with the Red Sox or Blue with the Yankees.

In response to the question of players who did a photo shoot with their new team, but never played a game with them, here's my submission from 5 years ago:

Here's one that most people don't remember...

Portland picked up Moses Malone in the ABA dispersal draft, and traded him away before the '76-'77 season started. Just about as bad as picking Bowie over Jordan, IMHO. Enough ranting, here's a pic...

It is technically a uniform

Hahaha, love it!

In a few years, that may not be the wrong uniform for him at all.

Story B: Red Wings go undefeated and score 100 goals in every game. They also beat a team comprised of Godzilla, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, 2 Power Rangers and Betty White. Oh, and they played in the middle of Iraq on a military base. In the sand. With no ice. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy.
