hearing about the sec's "dominance of college football" from espn (when i get to a bar or somewhere with espn since i no longer have cable) > hearing about the second bcs title for THE ohio state university from people i'll see everyday (growing up around cincy you make a lot of buckeye friends. was pretty awkward the first time we watched michigan/osu together)

that being said...and i' can't believe i'm about to say this...

:cursing: the sec. go bucks.

I know exactly how you feel. I couldn't believe I was pulling for Michigan, but I was. Look at it like this, it's all for the greater good. Kinda like when The Klingons became allies with The Federation in Star Trek.

:censored: the SEC. GO BIG 10! GO BUCKS! WAY TO GO BLUE!

I feel the same way but for the opposite conference. I went to an SEC school. :censored: the Big 10. Go SEC, Geaux Tigers!!

LSU 31 - OSU 24.

Off by a touchdown on the LSU side...

So it looks like all those SEC haters can go back in their holes and wait till next year. SEC is boss. Period. And this whole thing just sums up my thoughts that the Little Eleven is by far the most overrated conference out there.

Anyway, I think the final standings should read:

1. LSU

2. Georgia

3. West Virginia

4. USC

5. Kansas

Anyone disagree?

I will say this about UGA if there was a true National Championship Tournament I think they would win

Not if they have to run into the Trojans :P

Trojans? Please... :P

Cardinal 24 - Trojans 23

You know, I rarely visit ccslsc anymore. I really should fix that.

Ohio State will still win this game.

Everything in your post is correct, except the part about OSU having a prayer in this game.

Hey, it ain't over till it's over. Just ask Millsaps College.

First off the game needs to be close....

What about Kansas? Their season has been overlooked more than Hawai'i. ESPN's postgame does not even mention them. Amazing.

That's what happens when your only victory of note is over an overrated Virginia Tech team.

I don't think many hate on the SEC....maybe on their fans when they get annoying.

I wouldn't drop Ohio State out of the top 5. This would be my top 5:

1. LSU

2. Georgia

3. USC

4. West Virginia

5. Ohio State

But here's how the polls really work, in relation to Georgia's luck on the polls entering the bowl games:

Georgia will drop behind Kansas and Missouri. Since Oklahoma played a really tough West Virginia team, whose coach went to Michigan, they also will stay in front of Georgia.

Texas Tech will leapfrog into the top 10, since they beat an ACC team from the same state as Viginia Tech.

Wake Forest will vault into the top 10 also, being one of only 2 victorious ACC teams. Boston College will also vault UGA because they beat a Big Ten team.

So Georgia will be lucky to stay at #15.....

Congrats to LSU!!

They didn't lose their cool after falling behind 10-0. For some reason OSU did... again with the lead. It appears that they might have thought the game was over at 10-0. The Personal Foul penalties were just killers. LSU needed no help moving the ball. Their offense was impressive and flat-out awesome.

They just pounded too many nails in their own coffin on top of LSU's offense rolling along. You can't drop a TD pass in the end zone... then follow it by having your FG blocked. The D finally makes a stop on 3rd down in the opening of the second half!! ...then they demolish the punter for ANOTHER 15 yard penalty. LSU jumped on it for their 31st unanswered point.

Congrats again to the Tigers!

O-ne

S-eason

U-glier

my top five for next season

1 Georgia

2 USC

3 Clemson

4 LSU

5 Illinois

the noise at 5? after that smack job they received care of USC and the abysmal showing the big ten has done in the bowls this year, they'll be lucky to be in the top 10.

EDIT: oh yeah, congrats to LSU, but unlike last year, i'm not happy about osu's loss. that game was over right at that blocked field goal. ...let the sec praise and the big ten bashing begin anew.

Final AP Poll...Top 10.

1. LSU (60) 12-2 1,620

2. Georgia (3) 11-2 1,515

3. USC (1) 11-2 1,500

4. Missouri 12-2 1,347

5. Ohio State 11-2 1,346

6. West Virginia 11-2 1,342

7. Kansas (1) 12-1 1,303

8. Oklahoma 11-3 1,139

9. Virginia Tech 11-3 1,096

10. Texas 10-3 962

10. Boston College 11-3 962

Looking at that and using my system of who I'd bet on starting at the bottom and moving up, I'd have Ohio State at 10 at very best. They could beat Texas or BC but the rest of those teams would run circles around them. OSU-VT might be a good game. #5 is a gift, and a perfect example of why the polls are so :censored:-ed up. Only a group of dumbass sportswriters would see Ohio State as the number 5 team after last night.

Face it Buckeye Nation, we've been exposed. We can't play with the big boys and the whole world knows it.

I am officially for a playoff now. Not because I like it or because I think it will solve anything. I am for a playoff simply because losing in round two will be easier to stomach than constantly getting smoked in the title game.

No need to worry about us crashing the party next year. USC will solve that problem early in our non-conference schedule.

Brutal. Just brutal.

Can't say I'm surprised with an LSU victory, but I was rather surprised with the ease in which it was accomplished.

Thing is though that as an Ohio State fan, my hopes for the team are relatively low compared to most who've jumped the bandwagon in the past 6-7 years. As long as they (i) beat Michigan, then (ii) win the Big Ten title, I consider their season a success. A Rose Bowl win or a national title game is just gravy, the NCAA equivalent to playing with house money. So by that standard, I have no real complaints.

Woah....WVU would run all over OSU. I thought that was pretty obvious from last night. So we now have a two-loss team as national champion, huh? I think LSU is very good, but it seems that, more or less, this season should be view as a four-way tie for first.

I'm starting to think the idiots who run the Big Ten are actually SEC sympathizers who are trying to bring the conference down from the inside. There's absolutely NO reason why the Buckeyes shouldn't be back to back national champions right now. But these morons think it's still 1965 and that their teams can win bowl games when they're inactive for (what amounts to) two-thirds of a regular season.

Something else to ponder... some Big Ten schools had black QB's in the 1950's while most SEC teams didn't even have any black players, period, until well into the 1970's. So congratulations Big Ten... you've managed to get passed up by a conference you once had a two-decade jump on.

It's a rough time to be a college football fan in the Great Lakes...

I don't know what happened to my last post, but anyway, here's the gist of it...As a Buckeye hater, I'm a happy man today. I don't want this to sound harsh, but this helps to get the playoff system argument going again. OSU plays a weak schedule and has a schedule that ends too early. Another 6 week bye that results in a championship smackdown.

The Big Ten is working to correct the schedule problem, for what its worth.
