DrBear
I'm a little surprised to read this - I mean, Milwaukee manages to keep two arenas operating right next to each other, the Bradley Center (Bucks, Admirals, Marquette, concerts) and U.S. Cellular (the old MECCA - UW-Milwaukee, Milwaukee Wave, other events). If Milwaukee can do it, I would think a city the size of Philly can.
Dilbert
I read an article on AHL expansion. Buffalo might leave Rochester possibly going to Portland, leaving Anaheim without a team. It mentioned Philly could go to Atlantic City but I think that would be a bad idea. It barely supported the ECHL Boardwalk Bullies in the four season they played. It did mention Kansas City or Cincinnati as a possible 30th team. Signature intentionally left blank
Shumway
Apparently, the demolition is a go, according to what I'm seeing now(watching the Flyers game on Comcast).
-Helix-
Put 'em in the Skatium in Havertown. Is it suitable for an AHL franchise? No - but it's a fun place to watch a game! What about the Class of '23 Rink? That's actually a pretty good idea. Not being used for anything else really except club hockey I think.
philly97flyer
They said on Daily News Live today that the fate of the Spectrum is still 50/50. Ed Snider said that one potential option would be to connect the two arenas. I think this would be the best idea. The Spectrum still hosts alot of events, including the Phantoms and concerts. It would still draw a good amount of people to the entertainment portion of the complex, rather than just putting up another hotel.

BadSeed84
I have only been in the spectrum 3 times, first time was for the 1995 WWF King Of The Ring, then a WWF House show in may 1996 and a few years ago the nightmare on broad street thing. And it makes me a bit sad to hear its gonna get torn down, as it doesn't look too dated, and is a fine home for minor league teams. BigEd76
I haven't seen it online yet but there's a logo for the final season and the Phantoms will be wearing it. The logo is sort of square with rounded corners, the border has the spectrum rainbow effect, there's a picture of the Spectrum in the middle, the Spectrum logo is in the lower left, and the years 1967-2009 are in the lower right corner..... Gothamite
Philly is a blue collar place, it would be a shame to see whit collars take it over."Yes, it would be a shame, wouldn't it?""Indeed." And it's beyond sad that it's not even called the MECCA anymore (one of the coolest arena names ever, besides the Summit in Houston, Salt Palace in SLC, and the Omni in Atlanta). Oh and I haven't seen it in print but I would bet that the hotel and entertainment complex will include a casino.
