AndrewPF
Ok, we all get that you all hate Boston because the media jizzes themselves all over our teams. I, as a fan, don't like the constant verbal wank that ESPN gives our teams. Anyone with me? http://i.imgur.com/4ahMZxD.png koizim said: And...and ya know what we gotta do? mania
I don't watch ESPN much here, namely because my Spanish is horrible. I'll say one thing. Football, this season, has not been fun to discuss here. It's a big reason, that despite having no complains about the way the season has come, I try to stay out of these threads. It's just gotten... petty. And the OMG BOSTON thing gets brought into everything related. I, as a Pats fan, don't care about how many WS wins the Red Sox have had. Save that for the baseball threads. I'm a Rangers fan. We haven't won . Ever. (and no, not Tom Petty) Off The Top Rope: A Pro Wrestling Podcast
infrared41
It's occurred to me that Pats fans can't open their mouths around here anymore without getting jumped all over.Lighten up Frances. I wasn't "jumping all over you." I was simply pointing out the rest of the "in part" of why Brady had a bad game. Sorry if you took it for more than that. You people look for more trouble than anyone actually causes for you. If you look around this thread and the playoff thread you'll see that I have had nothing but complimentary things to say about The Patriots. What? No you weren't...you had a post specifically dedicated to my reaction to your smartass comment. I took it for what it was, a snide comment directed at me. Back it up.OK how about this? you jackass. Is that what you were looking for? You people really need to relax. I wasn't jumping all over you. Believe what you want.
gingerbreadmann
Look, Unwind is right. We do get jumped all over for saying anything pro-Pats, but when we say that, it makes you guys say the same thing(like you just said) and tell us to relax. But it also does works the other way sometimes. Either way, it can turn into a vicious cycle of hatred and accusations, and I think we can agree on that. infrared41
Keep this in mind, there are plenty of Pats fans that find Simmons to be a blowhard jackass too.I can't imagine how you wouldn't. If the sports puss were an Ohio State, Browns, and Indians fan and he represented us the way he does you guys I think I'd find new teams. It has got to suck knowing that a large portion of people probably believe that Simmons is a typical Boston or New England fan. If it's any consolation, I think most of the people around here know the difference. If you don't play a perfect game you are not going to beat the Patriots. There is no margin for error against these guys. The Chargers had every chance to win this game and couldn't get it in the endzone. It's time to give credit where credit is due. This New England team is one of the all-time great teams and they are playing towards the greatest single season in NFL history. Brady throws three interceptions and still at no point did I ever think they were going to lose. That's how -ing good they are. Like it or not, we are witnessing true greatness right now.I'm going to sit here over the next two weeks and read comments about the Patriots cheating their way to the Super Bowl, and how Bill Belichick is the personification of sheer evil.OK, I hate Boston sports as much as anyone but it's time to put this "cheating" thing into perspective. The Patriots got busted for using an illegally positioned camera to try to steal signals. Do we really believe that the other 31 NFL teams don't use their legally positioned cameras to try to snag some signals from the sidelines? Yes, The Patriots were caught but believing they are the only team to do it is like believing that the only baseball players using steroids are the ones who tested positive last season. Like it or not, this team isn't 18-0 because they stole defensive signals from The Jets.As you can clearly see, I have been leading the charge on bashing people if they say anything positive about The Patriots.PS: You guys are 18-0 and 12 point favorites in The Super Bowl. Instead of constantly looking for slights where none exist, why not have some fun and stop taking this so seriously? Some people don't like Boston fans. So what. Some people don't like Ohio State fans either but I'm not constantly on the defensive because of it. And in case any of you are wondering, your constant whining about how mean we all are to you isn't helping the reputation of your fanbase at all. Mac the Knife
Only Boston sports fans could have a World Series champion and a team a solid favorite to win the Super Bowl in the same year - and STILL find reason to complain.

And in case any of you are wondering, your constant whining about how mean we all are to you isn't helping the reputation of your fanbase at all.I for one acknowledge that you have been by far the best at doing that and the most respectful. But almost every time you say that, it's because another member said something bad, and that's the problem. But things like that P.S. are what keeps these things going. I(we) haven't been whining that people like you hate us, because you in particular have been very respectful about it. That's fine by me, and I haven't "whined" about that at all. But when someone makes an irrational, condescending comment about our fanbase, that's when I(we) have to be "defensive." Things like "it isn't helping the reputation of your fanbase at all," are mild examples of that. I'm not "whining even though my teams are doing exceptionally well," I'm pointing out when people are being irrational and condescending toward me(us). But yeah, statements like that from both sides are what keeps this thing going. See what I mean? Cycle

rainmaker17
Look, I'm not a Pat (or Giant fan). What I tire of is being referred to as a "hater," "jealous," or that "sour grapes" nonsense if I don't automatically admit how great they are, how historical they are. Again, I have family in the region and I have never seen people deal with their teams in such a black and white manner in my life. That does influence my opinion. FiddySicks
You know, I think the reason I'm most disappointed about this match-up is because its been done before. Dallas vs New England already happened so I'm glad that went out the windowNY Giants vs New England already happened as wellGreen Bay vs New England would've been at least a new match-up of two great teams who's style of ball contrasted really wellWithin the last few days my disappointment and apathy hasn't subsided like it normally does, but has surprisingly grown to the point where I wonder how much of the game i'll actually pay attention to. Why is it that every time the Giants are in the Super Bowl (At least in my memory) the match-up seems so amazingly uninspiring? Mac the Knife
Sure, Buc, but there's an element to this one as well: Will the Giants have learned enough from their loss to solve the Patriots puzzle? That's as good a hook, maybe better, than any matchup featuring a pair of teams who hadn't squared off in the regular season.
