- Changing the playoff seeding so that a wild-card team could get home-field advantage in a first round game if it has a better regular-season record than a division winner.

Dumb, dumb, dumb. This completely devalues winning the division in the first place by taking away the only meaningful thing that comes with it (the banner is not meaningful). If NFL teams want home field in the playoffs, they should simply get it done when it counts against their divisional foes.

So say an 9-7 divisional winner faces off with a 10-6, maybe 11-5 wild card team. You really think that the team that went 8-8 in a bad division should have home field over a team that won more games, but played in a tougher division?

Considering how 3/8ths of the schedule is based on division play, and 8 of your remaining 10 games are against common opponents with the rest of your division, yes. The bias within the schedule towards divisional play and performance compared to other teams in your division means that winning said division should be rewarded substantially.

They just announced the opening weekend prime-time games:

Thursday, 9/4 - Redskins @ Giants

Sunday night, 9/7 - Bears @ Colts

Monday, 9/8 - Vikings @ Packers, Broncos @ Raiders

Nothing special, and that Bears-Colts matchup in particular seems like a real snoozer. Couldn't they have done better than that for prime-time on Kickoff Weekend?

I bet that they want to show off the new stadium in Indy and they needed a big market team to get the ratings in.

Vikings @ Packers?

Oh, that's going to be fun...

Aaron Rodgers and Tavaris Jackson will sure light it up in that one!

Ehh, who knows? Maybe Rodgers is the stud he was in college, and all Jackson has to do is throw the ball to the receiver on Al Harris, who will no doubt be disguised as Plaxico Burress.

AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

For those too lazy...Vikings sign Gus Frerotte to a multi-year deal...on the basis of a recommendation from Scott Linebaka.

Better hope Tavaris Jackson never gets hurt Minnie fans.

Well...as was just talked about on PTI earlier today (caught it while grubbin' on midnight chow...)

...to the surprise of (what should be) no one...the agent for John Madden's QB (you know, that #4 guy) mmmmmaaaaaaaayyyyyy not be exactly "retired" after all.

(It's been alleged/reported/rumored that Favre's agent has been contacting teams on the sneak tryna see what teams might be interested in a trade for Golden Boy Favre...)

*Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. 😁

Trade him to the Lions inexchange for their entire draft.

Meh, as a backup, that's not actually that bad of a signing. At least last time he was here, he won some games when he had to step in.

Unfortunately, I strongly doubt he is still capable of winning games. Or even managing them and letting the defense win them.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/foot...nial/index.html

Brett Favre, startled this morning to see the enormity of a report on a morning sports show that he might play football again, said he is not considering coming out of retirement.

"That's the last thing I'm thinking about,'' Favre told SI.com. "I have no idea where that came from, but it certainly didn't come from me. I'm happy about my decision and I haven't once said, 'I wonder if I made the wrong decision.' I know it's the right one.''

I love how:

1) Sportswriters are scrambling to find a way to keep Brett Favre in the NFL.

2) The LA Times has basically lost their credence as a reputable newspaper.
