I really hope it's Thunderbirds because this is what comes to mind when I hear "Thunderbird."

is what comes to mind for me.

I don't like three-syllable team names as a rule; they always get shortened in use, so why not just use the shorter nickname? Nobody will call them the "Thunderbirds," they'll be the "T-Birds" or the "Birds", depending. But the name does grow on me despite that, and I like how it thematically references the old team name.

I would still name them the Dusters if I owned the team, with a dual Western/tornado theme, but Thunderbirds is creeping into my top three.

So will they stay in the Northwest division?

Don't see why not. It would mess alignment up if they moved to the Southwest. Besides, they're still geographically closer to cities like Denver and SLC than Minneapolis is.

Is it known whether the team will use "Oklahoma City" or just Oklahoma?

The ticket website has a logo that says "NBA OKC" on it, so I assume they will use Oklahoma City.

And the URL includes the word "Storm" in it... OKC Storm?

https://secure.sonics-storm.com/forms/nbaokc.aspx

I mean, it's the WNBA name, but it fits for OKC...

I kinda brings up an interesting problem for the NBA in terms of merchandising and marketing. Now I know that this move was seen coming from miles away, but just how difficult is it going to be to get merchandise produced and media and marketing strategies togather to release to the masses, with the hopes that it'll turn profit in a little less than four or five months?

The only history the Rams refer to of the football Cardinals are players who played in St. Louis and are part of the ring of fame they created in the dome several years back.

I still think it would be odd to have Sonics banners hanging at the home of the OKC Thunderbirds...personally, all the other names sound a little minor league.

Oklahoma City Okies

although of the realistic choices, I'd go with Barons

As someone said earlier in the thread, Thunderbirds would probably be shortened to T-Birds, which is too close to T-Wolves for my liking

and the colors will mostly likely be two varying shades of blue
