Mac the Knife 1,244 Posted August 16, 2008 If you're like me (an American with DISH Network), you're getting a free preview of Setanta Sports this month, allowing you to catch the start of the 2008-09 English Premier League season. If not, you may still be a fan.Use this thread to post anything and everything related to the 2008-09 campaign! EDIT: Could a mod move this to the General Sports area? This wound up in "Sports Logos" for reasons that I can't explain.

NEW.ERA 153 Posted August 17, 2008 Hopefully the Magpies can keep up with Man U tomorrow but i have doubts Viduka is out for a while and Martins/Owen won't be 100% hopefully the rest of the team can keep up.
Fred T. Jane 2 Posted August 17, 2008 Spurs lose in their first match of the season... again! They fell to Middlesborough 2-1 with their only goal not from the players they spent Eleventy billion pounds on this summer, but rather an own goal. And in other European Football action, Arminia Bielefeld drew with Bundesliga Title hopefuls Werder Bremen 2-2 in a pulsating match with a double by local legend Artur Wichniarek!

TFoA 43 Posted August 17, 2008 Good to see the Gunners did quite alright in their first game today. Seemed like they were in complete control.Too bad the kits still don't quite look like Arsenal.
Viper 192 Posted August 17, 2008 What the Hull: Fulham loses their opener 2-1 to another one of the newcomers. Not a promising start for a side that's been flirting with relegation the past couple of years.
NEW.ERA 153 Posted August 17, 2008 Hull is surprising an in my mind Boaz Myhill isn't that bad of a goalie but then again it was only Fulham

TFoA 43 Posted August 23, 2008 Arsenal lost to Fulham. Got outplayed for the whole 90 minutes, too. The Gunners have been sub-par, IMO, through their first three games. They didn't do as well as most expected against Twente (though a 2-0 victory is nothing to complain about), scored their only goal so far in the 4th minute of their first EPL game, and basically got dominated by Fulham. Auspicious start.
NEW.ERA 153 Posted August 23, 2008 They'll find there way i think they should dip into the Transfer window before it closes on the 31st

BTW, among the rest of today's matches Stoke won a thriller over Aston Villa and Spurs lost (again!)
NEW.ERA 153 Posted August 23, 2008 Magpies played alright i guess even though it was against a sub par Bolton squad
