Ok so I know I'm a few weeks late, and this should go in the college changes thread, but I just noticed it after watching the Nevada - Idaho game and I can't find the thread.

Nevada went from these beauties

That is the closest rip-off of Oregon State (or whoever they ripped off) that I have ever seen.

well miami was the original...that was one of the first nike templates that everyone seemed to want to use...(even though the original template had slightly different side panels...new mexico state is the only one i can think of who uses it still...

I'm just not seeing how it's such a downgrade. To me it's one fairly generic template changing to another. The old ones, tho adidas, look like Nike's USC template to an extent, the double outlining seems pointless (especially the silver on the white uni), the pants stripe is generic...

For being a generic template, the second set doesn't look like it was handled badly to me. Pretty tastefully done, though the pants stripe-thing would be better as a traditional two or three stripe panel, and the monochrome needs to go. Still...I say it's about an even swap.

So how come #56 gets a stripe on his helmet?

Anyway, I thought Nevada and UConn both used their colors well in their uniform designs. Now it's just UConn.

It's basically a pride stripe you get for a big play or for reaching a certain milestone. Normally I wouldn't like something like that but it was actually a practice modeled after a few Northern Nevada high schools, so it's almost as a shout out to the local area, and that I like very much.

Miami had it, Oregon State had it, Appalachn State HAS it, New Mexico State has it, and New Mexico did have it, dont know if they got new ones this year or not, and I actually like these but I liked Nevadas last year better

At least one other school is still using them, which is Portland State. The've been emphasizing more black since Jerry Glanville took over last year, but the overall design has stayed the same. This is from last year when they introduced the Nike designed <insert roll-eyes or pukey emoticon here> spear helmet...

The year before, they had this look which I thought was bad-ass with the NCAA gothic font...

However, this template can lead to a potential clusterfluff like this...

BTW, I still need the NCAA gothic font in TTF. B)

Ugh, downgrade.

They've disappointed me ever since they went to that jagged wolf helmet logo instead of the "wolf-N" they used to have (or better yet, the old "PACK" in cursive script).

And looks to me that all the second-tier western programs are going with the same template. Way to conform, guys!

Actually, the template used by New Mexico and Nevada (and formerly Oregon State) is called the Corvallis jersey, whereas the one Miami used was called the Miami jersey. Note that these are the official Nike names for the templates. Most people just call them hideous.
