The leafs have missed the playoffs since changing to their new unis :( If only this was true for all teams :P

Wow , I've never realized that until now lol. Maybe if their new 3rd jerseys sell more than their home and away's , they will consider switching them to their roads ( didn't Atlanta do the same ? ). But only time will tell.

The Astros stumbled when they changed uniforms but that may have had more to do with the fact they also moved into Enron Field (now Minute Maid Park). It has smaller dimesions than the Astrodome and is considered more hitter-friendly. So, the pitchers all went through a slump.

Minute Maid Park may have ruined Jose Lima's career. Or maybe it was those Casa Ole commercials. The jury's still out.

The 1983 White Sox, 1988/89 A's, and 1995 Indians all made postseason appearances shortly after rebranding. The Mariners and Rangers never made the playoffs until overhauling their identities.

The Sonics reached the NBA Finals in the first year of the dark green/maroon look.

The Nets also started winning after ditching the Coleman-era red white and blue.

The Sacramento Kings became a regular playoff team shortly after switching to black and purple.

The Whalers never again reached the playoffs in Hartford after ditching the green-dominated set in favor of the navy and silver one.

The Bucks were a regular playoff team until they ditched red from the color scheme.

The NY Rangers were pretty bad during the short time they used the shield logo instead of the diagonal wordmark.

The 1966 Orioles added the cartoon bird and script Orioles on home jersey, and Frank Robinson too. The 1989 Orioles from the worst team in baseball in '88 to almost winning the East in '89. Well here is hoping the Baltimore on the away jerseys will bring about the same change in 2009.

Nobody is mentioning the 2000 New York Giants....change the uniforms back to something similar they wore in the 50s/60s and go to the Super Bowl (where they got destroyed by Baltimore). Also the New Jersey Devils ditch the Christmas uniforms and get to the red white and black and go on to become a playoff team almost every year since 1992/93 when they changed over.

Coincidence = wins.

That's all.

Still an interesting coincidence.

Yeah, but only for the uniform changes that prove out. You could just as easily say teams that change their uniforms never win championships:

Grizzlies, Hornets, Knicks, Sonics, Warriors, Nuggets, BYU football, Syracuse football, Washington State football, Bills, Cardinals, Chargers, and so on.

Well, since BYU switched to these bad boys, they are 32-10 with three bowl appearances and two top 20 finishes.

adding on to the giants theme... since the throwback-upgrade of 2005 (black cleats, re-designed road unis, and "ny" wordmark) the giants have qualified for the playoffs each season, not to mention last year's incredible run and superbowl win... AND the giants record in the road white/reds is even more impressive..

The Sonics also qualify as a two-time team for making the finals after a uniform change - going back to the 1977/78 they made the Finals (and lost to the Bullets) the year they changed their home uniforms to the original "arch" style (but they continued to wear the UCLA-style road uniforms that year); then they won the Chapionship the following year (1978/79) after changing the road uniforms to the "arch" style to match the home uniforms.

Does anyone else remember the commercial where there's guys talking about this exact subject, and then one presents his idea for a Bills redesign, at which point a guy came out in a giant buffalo wing with numbers on it? It might have been for Sports Center, but I can't remember.
