Korbyn
I've always thought the Stars should have changed their colors to red, white, and blue to match the Texas flag when they moved. The green, gold, and black really don't seem like a Texan Star. Just me?Not a bad idea, but the green and gold are such a good color combo they couldn't say no! ColeJ
stars fans like green, gold, and black.they don't like black and gold.they don't like black, red, green, and gold.they don't like red, white, and blue.they like green, gold, and black.and while the state of texas does have a flag of red, white, and blue, it doesn't change the fact that i've always found green and gold an appropriate color scheme... look at our skyline... green and gold works with that, to me. mfoster
Ummm, no. Dallas has no affiliate this season. They will settle in suburban Austin next year. The Iowa Stars have not moved. The ownership and franchise are the same, but changed their name as part of their new affiliation with Anaheim.Exactly - the Iowa Stars have changed their name to the Iowa Chops. The Texas Stars will be an expansion franchise next season.Oh really? How did I miss that considering that I live in Des Moines. I can assure you it is more than a name change from Stars to Chops. Did I mention I work at Wells Fargo Arena in my spare time?So long as we're exchanging credentials... Did I happen to mention I've shared the broadcast booth with Chops' play-by-play voice Alex Kyrias? We've traded emails just this week, in fact. Feel free to print out this thread and ask him for an official ruling. Tell him "Mr. Know-It-All" says hi and dares him to use the term "prima facie" during a broadcast. It's real simple. All you have in Des Moines is a name change coinciding with and affiliation change. The ownership (Baldwin and the Schlegels) is the same, and so is the franchise. Off the top of my head I can't recall a time when the ownership remained the same, but the franchise was different. I'll bet the changes you are thinking of relate to the player ops. Sure, when affiliations change those positions change too - Anaheim doesn't want "Dallas people" controlling their players.

Viper
the Texas Stars are Dallas' AHL affiliate that are playing in Dallas before moving to Austin next season. The Texas Stars were formerly the Iowa Stars where they had a much better logo.Ummm, no. Dallas has no affiliate this season. They will settle in suburban Austin next year. Gothamite
Stars prospects will play with the Hamilton Bulldogs, Iowa Chops, Manitoba Moose, and Peoria Rivermen this year. The Milwaukee Admirals were part of such an arrangement a couple seasons ago, being simultaneously the top farm club of the Predators and one of five Oilers top affiliates. Horrible for player development, IMO.Red Wings did it for several years between their Adirondack and Grand Rapids affiliations. I believe most of the time they parked their players in Cincinnati, and I seem to recall that one year they had as few as six players signed to minor league deals.
