2010 NBA All Star Game

This is a great move by Cuban. At first I was thinking that it was silly to have it at such a big venue, but then I remembered how the Sixers owner said they would never try to host it again because of how the league took over and shut out most of their season ticket holders. As long as the season ticket holders are guanteed the opportunity to purchase seats, this is a great move.

He publically said that he did not want it at the AAC soley for that reason; hosting the game impacts too much on season ticket holders. 2010 sounds too soon to me, since there is an economic downturn and Dallas will not have a Mandarin Oriental hotel now (that project has been put on hold or ended), they should have enough luxury hotels for that weekend aka "Black Super Bowl".

You haven't heard said for the NBA All Star Game? I read it first from JA Adande when he was with the LA Times when the game was in Las Vegas. Bill Simmons may have even used it post ASG weekend too.

Co-sign. The ASG in Atlanta a few years back might as well have been the National Hip-Hop Convention. I have never seen that many black celebrities in that close of proximity EVER than when I went down to Lenox Mall on the Saturday afternoon before the game.

Usually celebs travel in small groups, NO, they were all there in plain sight, and of course lots of common folks were there just to be there, and it just got crazy. One of the craziest things I've witnessed, and I didn't get anywhere near the official All Star Festivities.

And yeah, I do say that this is a great idea on Cuban's part. Leave it to him to come up with some Maverick (no pun intended...either one you can think of :P) idea that ends up being great for his franchise.

I wouldn't be surprised if places like Lucas Oil Stadium, Reliant Stadium, University of Phoenix Stadium, etc., etc. start bidding for the ASG.

... or we can go retro and have the All-Star Game hosted by the Sonics at the Kingdome...

Yeah, they can reconstruct the whole thing simply to hold one game. Wait, that'd mean they'd have to demolish Qwest Field, rebuild the Kingdome, demolish the Kingdome again, and then rebuild Qwest Field...

I think it'll work.

The West will have had the ASG 7 years in a row. Mind giving it to a team out in the East? I mean Boston and Toronto desrved to get the ASG early this decade, and the NBA still decides to keep it out West every year

The teams still have to actually apply for it, right? Der Kaiser, David Stern, doesn't just call up Mickey Aronson, Abe Pollin, or Bob(cat) Johnson and say, "Hey, you're getting the All-Star Game this year." Teams have to want it, and if they don't want it, you can't make 'em take it.

I'm glad people know what they're talking about though.

Why not? Vegas hosted it, and they don't have a team. It's in the middle of the country. There's a dome sitting there with more than enough capacity. There's casinos. There's toasted raviolli. And the Arch. I say bring it on.

(Yeah, like that would ever happen. :D )
