Jezus_Ghoti
http://www.ufl-football.com/homeI gotta admit, it's not that bad. I was expecting Madden- or XFL-level bad and it's a clear step above that. The football looks a bit like Pacman puking, but whatever. The cornerback version of Pacman will probably be playing in the league before long (assuming this league ever gets off the ground), so maybe it fits. Edit: I'll just add that some of the flash graphics at the top of the site are awful. I could do more precise Photoshopping in Paintbrush using a sprained toe on my laptop touchpad. Mac the Knife
Two logos in less than a year.Gradients and a color scheme that reminds me of the San Antonio Gunslingers. That aside though, I'm beginning to think the UFL might actually play some games next year. They haven't completely died off, and if this recession hasn't killed off investors yet it probably won't.

MVP
If the logo was made flat with no bevels or gradients, it would look half decent. Now it just looks crap. And the website looks like they bought the layout from a template site.

They (Lightmaker) doesn't come cheap.
Burmy
Here are my name submissions:Hartford Riverhawks (city is right by the Connecticut River)Las Vegas High Rollers (a high roller is somebody who frequently bets a lot of money at once in the casino)Los Angeles Comets (a play on the "stars" around there-maybe they could have a celeb dog as the mascot-star with a tail, get it?)Monterrey Toros (even those who don't know very much Spanish know what a toro is)New York Heroes (honors NYPD and FDNY-think 9/11)Orlando Wizards (Magic Kingdom here, want to keep up the theme)Salt Lake City Swarm (Utah's nickname is the Beehive State)San Francisco Express (Streetcars, ferries, etc.-was going to call them the Ferries, but then decided against it)
ManCalledAmp
Not a bad site, considering. However, the thing at the bottom (in the name the team blurb) bothers me: The U in UFL isn't just for United; it's for U, the fans. Cheezy, trite, modern-for-no-reason. Especially from a league level. However, I do have to say I like the league logo. Still not convinced this league plays, though. And if they last more than a season, I'll be amazed. Go Gators. Go Blue Raiders. Go Commodores. Go USC Trojans.Preds & Avs. Braves, Rays, & Dodgers. Titans, Colts, Broncos, Cardinals. Grizzlies. 14ers, Jam. Team Spirit + Laziness = Yay. O_Town_Clown
the UFL wont last long. That's the spirit. I'm pretty sure Orlando will be given some sort of generic name along the lines of the Rage and Thunder. Unfortunately Orlando isn't known for much, outside of the area, other than Disney World. BBTV
They're supposed to serve underserved makets, yet they're targeting teams in NYC and Hartford? gosioux76
They're supposed to serve underserved makets, yet they're targeting teams in NYC and Hartford?Yeah ... I was thinking the same thing. Interestingly, though, they managed to get their name into a Peter King column in Sports Illustrated back in August. King said the league could be a destination for viable third-string NFL QBs or -- more interesting -- Michael Vick. If you're looking to legitimize yourself, that isn't a bad way to start. Island_Style
What is with all of these XFL/AFL names? I hope they dont go that route. You want respect? Dont name your teams Rage, or Blitz, or Shock, or Mercury, or Devil Kings, or Stealth, or Tornado Hawks, or Battle Masters. Every league fails when they go the middle school route for names. Every league fails when they go the middle school route for names.Wholeheartedly agree with this. I hate these sort of generic mid-nineties names. The difficulty, however, is trying to come up with something that hasn't been done before. For example, there is a bird that is native only to Central Florida called the Scrub Jay. So, you could name the Orlando team the "Jays", but it's been done. Calling them the "Scrub Jays" on the other hand sounds, at best, like a minor league baseball team (at worst, it's just pathetic). So, you could try these tough sounding names...Gators=UFMoccasins=Florida Southern Hurricanes=MiamiSeminoles=FSU...but they're taken. So you end up with the "Storm" or something else that sounds equally like a Women's professional softball team.Granted, this is specific to the Orlando market, but I imagine other cities would be just as hard to name. archer18
The UFL has already partnered with two standout companies in the creation of a new logo and updated web presence. To help establish the UFL?s identity, the League called upon Landor Associates, one of the world?s leading strategic brand and design consultancies. The new UFL logo now emphasizes the broader love for the sport of football with a fun, celebratory feel that brings the fans closer to the game. The UFL also partnered with award-winning professional services agency Lightmaker, Inc. to create a top-notch interactive web destination, www.ufl-football.com, for the fans that will enable them to feel part of the football action.?As this will truly be a league for the fans, we are immediately launching a ?Name Your Team? campaign via the UFL website for our potential inaugural cities,? added Commissioner Huyghue. ?Fans can submit their favorite team names by visiting www.ufl-football.com and also stay abreast of all the latest UFL news. Fan participation is an integral component of the UFL and this campaign is just the first of many for the communities to truly embrace the teams. All names will be considered and winning entries will be recognized via the website and at inaugural festivities.?Has Landor done any pro sports design before? KJTALBOT
If one UFL game gets played it will be a miracle. This whole thread is pointless. You could call the teams the nosepickers and the butt munch and it wouldn't matter. They will never exist. Everyone loves a roundel.
