canefan2k1 Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 If this is old, my apologies, I'm new. But I don't think it's old because I just found this article today...Anyway, to the point.Rejected Bobcat logos:The second one is alright, but the first logo is awful. If they would have been the Flight:Meh, it's OK.The pictures are from this story from ESPN. Pretty good read, though it is a bit lengthy. But this from bobcats.com shows a different Flight logo, and a Dragons one also:Thoughts?I'm glad they chose the logo they have now as theirs. The other Bobcat logos don't look as good, and neither does the Dragon logo. The two Flight logos are alright, but the name sounds too WNBA-ish.
Brass Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 The 2nd rejected BobCats logo looks very similar to the Bridgeport SoundTigers logo. On 4/10/2017 at 3:05 PM, Rollins Man said: what the hell is ccslc?
See Red Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 I like the both Flight logos. And I like the second Bobcats logo. But I feel that any of those logos are FAR better than what they chose. I can't stand what they went with.
the_cynic Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 Still, the logo they choose doesn't look good for an NBA logo. I would have much rather seen them use something else. I was just kind of disappointed that "Flight", "Bobcats", and "Dragons" were the final names to select from. Phil Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 The 2nd rejected Bobcats logo is a little AF2ish, but it's still the best of the bunch...more a shot at the other ones than merit for the 2nd reject. The rejected flight logo isn't bad, although it's a little simple... I like the simple wordmark.
canefan2k1 Posted March 10, 2004 Author Posted March 10, 2004 The more that I look at it, I kinda like the first Flight logo too. I may be one of the few that likes the Bobcat logo they have now.
hrivnak Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 I like both Flight logos better than any of the Bobcat logos. Since they went with the Bobcats, I'm glad they picked the logo they did, though. I would have rather them be called the Flight with the first logo, if I had my druthers.Unfortunately, I cannot find my druthers at the moment.
Roger Clemente Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 That second Bobcats is the best logo of the three. But that Flight logo with the three trails and the tiny jets could produce some nice jerseys.--Roger "Time?" Clemente. Follow me on Twitter if you care: @Animal_Clans.My opinion may or may not be the same as yours. The choice is up to you.

But that Flight logo with the three trails and the tiny jets could produce some nice jerseys.--Roger "Time?" Clemente. That's a good point. The first Flight Logo could turn out some pretty sharp lookin' jerseys. But now that you say that, if they did use that logo, the jerseys may turn out to be similar to the Rocket's new jerseys. Just a thought.
Lee. Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 Just let me be the first to say,Ahhhhhhhhhhh, they all suck. But the Flight "C" logo doesn't suck as hard as the rest. Welcome to DrunjFlix
pagan696 Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 Ed Tapscott (Bobcats GM) was on the radio today answering callers questions about where they're at right now in development of the team. some of the highlights were:owner Bob Johnson (founder of Black Entertainment Television-BET network) is starting a new regional sports channel to cover many of the lesser covered sports teams in the region as well as showing most Bobcats games. [edit: thanks, canefan] Div1-A football, basketball, minor leauge baseball Charlotte Knights, hockey ECHL Charlotte Checkers, and other sports events not currently seeing much TV time will have a new place to be showcased.the jerseys will not go on sale until players are signed. he mentioned the jersey cos. prefer player numbers and names to blanks. look for them late spring/early summer.he coverd a few of the community projects they've been involved with to help win over many of the basketball fans in our area. the Hornets were lousy at this.oh yea... the 2nd logo woulda gotten my vote. Bobcats seems better name for a team than Flight. and as a last side note; last week i got rapped on the knuckles (with a ruler, no less) for altering the "official" logo. one of my customers is an affiliate who uses their logo and gave the green light to mirror the wordmarks. no biggie, but the NBA said "no,no" and designs had to be changed to accommodate everyone. picky picky. I heard about that. C-SET is what it's called. But I heard they would only broadcast 60 of the Bobcats games..C-SET will air 60 Bobcats games, all with 30-minute pregame and postgame shows. The Sting will have one of the most comprehensive local television packages in the WNBA with up to 15 games aired on the new network. In-depth team specials and reality programs, weekly magazine and coaches shows and other exclusive programming will round out C-SET?s coverage of the two teams. Here is the article, and here is C-SET's website if your interested.
smzimbabwe Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 Looks like someone got a little inspiration from the Raleigh-Durham Skyhawks for the Flight "C" logo...
canefan2k1 Posted March 11, 2004 Author Posted March 11, 2004 Looks like someone got a little inspiration from the Raleigh-Durham Skyhawks for the Flight "C" logo... Hm, good point. And I just found something weird...George Shinn owned the Skyhawks...
NJTank Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 Wow some of thos rejected logos are real bad but that flight logo with C is cool, maybe if they ever get a baseball team they chould use it it would make a great baseball cap if they use the right colors. www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com
Waffles Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 Well, all of these are better than what they have.
Cianfrocco Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 The only problem I have with the Bobcats logo is that it is strikingly similar to that of the U of Northern Iowa (going to the tourny, by the way!)
Stampman Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 The only problem I have with the Bobcats logo is that it is strikingly similar to that of the U of Northern Iowa (going to the tourny, by the way!) i find it more similar to the Women's football team--the Tacoma Majestics-Tacoma majestics Comic Sans walks into a bar, and the bartender says, "Sorry, we don't serve your type here."
lucky Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 At least the owner's name is Bob. We could have had the Charlotte Stevecats Yeah do that. Do exactly THAT
nitroseed Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 What a crock. That second rejected Bobcats logo is almost an exact replication of the WAFL's Rose City Wildcats... there are only a few minor modifications:And I agree, the one they actually chose does look similar to the Tacoma Majestics, who also used to be in the WAFL (and are listed on LogoServer's WAFL page). Guess we know where they got their "inspiration" from. I sure hope the Bobcats didn't pay for those concepts...
