tBBP
Bout time...is the rookie hazing overwith yet for that guy???(And is it me or does anyone else really miss the days of Smoltz, Glavine, and Maddux going out there and straight dominating? None were really ever fireballers--well, Smoltz sorta kinda was--but it was the mind-games they would play with batters, particularly Maddux, that made them so fun to watch. Damn shame they couldn't win more than just that one World Series.) *Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. || dribbble || Behance ||
JayJaxon
Yup, you speak of my fond childhood memories right there. Well, at least the ones related to baseball. The thing is though, they do not have a bad rotation at all. It's the hitting that is putting them 3 games out of first...however, they are only 3 games out of first. At least they play in the East where they have a shot. No rotation in the history of baseball will ever be able to match the Glavine, Maddux, and Smoltz that I watched as a kid. Too bad too because at 13, I may have seen the only Braves Word Championship I'm gonna see.
Still MIGHTY
ugh... Thank the world for Justin freaking Speier How many times must this guy blow a lead or blow a tie for Scioscia to stop putting him out their in crunch time? You just tied the game on a Juan Rivera 3-run home run in the top of the 9th. Bottom of the 9th, put out your closer. Put out Brian Fuentes. That's what he's paid to do. Not blow tight games. Hell, I'd take Jason Bulger or Darren Oliver before I throw Justin Speier out there in a tie game against a team trying to tie you for the AL West lead. A team that is going to be your biggest competition until the end of September.I think Mike Scioscia is one of the best managers in baseball today. But if the man has one fault as a manager, it is the management of his pitching staff. If the starter is having a bad day, he tends to leave him in just one or two batters too long. If a guy that is supposed to be your shutdown reliever has had a few bad outings in a row, he tries to give him another chance to redeem himself. Now sometimes this all works, but the majority of it, they don't.Ugh...1/2 game lead. 4 games with the O's this weekend, then another set with Texas at home in the Big A. Let's go Halos. | ANA | LAA | LAR | LAL | ASU | CSULB | USMNT | USWNT | LAFC | OCSC | MAN UTD |

He had pinpoint accuracy, kept the batters off balance, changed his timing between pitches, varied speeds, threw junk, like 25 gold gloves and this is all while his fastball was what 88 mph at best?! I hated the Braves of that era, but I couldn't help but love Greg Maddux.

mania
This Rangers team... I go from ready to throw in the towel, to back to being engaged in a couple of days. Man, it feels good to beat the tar out of the Angels. There's no team, not even the Yankees, that I can't stand more, mainly due to their fans. As an A's fan and someone who goes to a ton of Angels games, I have to say I haven't met many classless Angels fans.First off, I wouldn't say the Rangers "beat the tar out of the Angels." In the second game yes. We won the first game, and we came back in the third game which was won on a 2-run walk-off home run off of an inept Justin Speier. I wouldn't say that's "beating the tar" out of themSecond, I agree with Bucfan, the only bad Angels fans I have ever seen are the ones that get about 3-5 more beers than they can handle in their systems. What exactly is it that makes you hate Angels fans? Is it just because we've won the division these past few years consistently or is it something actually with the fans? | ANA | LAA | LAR | LAL | ASU | CSULB | USMNT | USWNT | LAFC | OCSC | MAN UTD |

TFoA
The Braves, after stinking for most of the Red Sox/Yankees/Red Sox series, sweep the Phillies to come within 2 games of first place...at 38-40. The NL East is so great this year.
JayJaxon
I still say Atlanta needs a bat. But this really is a great boost for a team that has needed one for a while. Great pitching performances too. The bullpen really came through today.
LC
I think we got that bat with Prado.I never want to see Kelly Johnson start again.Get McLouth back (any day now) and we should be in good shape. What a game, what a series, but I still hate Vazquez couldn't get the win. Most people on team message boards shouldn't be used as a barometer of a fan base. If you go to a game and the people are just as borish then you've got your answer. It's the anonymity that affects people on the internet.
