I dont think there will be a problem with a CD from Australia, teh reason why DVD, and VHS tapes are different is because they have a different TV line coding format.

CDs are supposedly universal.

VHS is different based on PAL and NTSC sets.

DVDs are region encoded to only work with certain players in the specific region. This isn't due to the PAL/NTSC difference, but to help prevent pirating. The DVDs bootlegged in Singapore won't work on a region 1 (US/Canada) player, for instance.

Anyway, I know that's more infor than you needed. At any rate, you should be fine purchasing said CD.

I hear the DVD Region thing is to prevent people from purchasing it before it becomes available in their region... like people in asia buying u.s. movies on dvd even before they hit theatres there, etc.
