you know, the big problem is the team did not go through any rebranding at all really. on top with the new uniforms, it feels like they are just wearing throwbacks every night.

the panels on the walls of the stadium and the field art still use the "cherry" color and the black outlines. after noticing that it really started to bug me.

49'ers need to do two things and I will be fine:

1) change the facemask to red

2) officially change the script to the script under the collar of the jerseys, and officially change the colors so the stadium and merchandise can look correct.

or maybe the stadium just hasnt gotten around to that part yet?? anyways, it needs to be done.

I definitely prefer the new uniform over the old one, even if it has a few flaws

Truth is, that stadium is such a dump I wonder if they're even gonna bother.

Yep it is a dump even though I go to a couple of games per year (nice seats) - with the orange seats still there from the days when Carter was president...(when Jack Clark was roaming the outfield for the Giants).

That helmet logo is a real sore thumb here. And the golds on the helmets and pants didn't match nearly as well on TV as they do on the pic posted here. And while I can see the idea behind doing what they did with the sleeve striping, the end result is a jersey with one thin stripe - maximum - when viewed from the side. Plus, it really does look beyond silly on the replicas.

This goes two years max before tweaks start showing up. I say that, as a whole, the look is lucky to last five.

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.

I doubt that they will make a serious overhaul without a 49ers fan revolt - 70 percent didn't like the change to a darker red and white pants in 1997. Tweaks - more likely....stripes adjusted probably. Note - this was from a survey in an Examiner article back then. It's easy to look at things from a "non-fan" point of view - but take those same views into their forum - and you will most likely get torched with very few agreeing with you.

The only complaint they have is the pants look on TV (looking a little green-yellow) and just returning to the beige-gold of the Montana years.

Adjustments that should be made: Bring the stripes up the sleeves and forget about the half-stripes look, and change the shoes from black to white. The problem with the shiny gold cloth that it looks bad under certain conditions because of the light source. On a bright day - it looks pale gold and/or light tan... On an overcast day - it takes on a light olive shade... and under a bright spotlight - vivid yellow. In the night - it looks like a weird light green-yellow.

Okay, the stripes look pretty bad on the jersey, even with pads...

But I still think this is a huge improvement over last season's uniforms.

BROWNS | BUCKEYES | CAVALIERS | INDIANS |

The sleeve stripes are looking throwing a piece of crap on a t-shirt and then showing it off to people. Then when they respond that it looks like crap, you responding with pride, "yes, but I designed it to look that way!"

If the sleeve stripes were gonna get cut off (something I don't think had to be the case), they'd be better off having let it just happen than to do it intentionally like this.

Stripes will be difficult to reporduce as historically correct long as the majority of players don't want anything to grab on to.

To your previous post, t is not the logo to me that makes this look off, it is the gold of the helmet itself. When seen with the non-metallic pants, it screamed "off" to me. Personally, I thought that the previous set was better than what they wore in their bad times into the Walsh era

Well the stripes would clearly have to stop at the front and back of the uniform.. they would not go all the way around (on 99% of players). BUT, they could have made them fit from top to bottom even if it meant making them a tad thinner and closer. They just need to start higher.

As low as they started the first (and only full) stripe on this design, I expect you'll seem some players cut even that one off. There's no reason the stripes should be starting that low on the sleeve. They over-thought this one.

The worst part of that picture is that the players are illegally wearing their socks too low. With all the other things the NFL hammers guys about, they need to start on the socks. Each player should be fined for stepping on the field like that. Other than that, the stripes are horrible, but overall the look is great. I could live with the pants this year (it's and improvement over the previous look), but I would like to see them switch to metallic next year.

The only problem is, I don't know how well they can match the pants to the helmet. The material of the pants last year wasn't right. The gold looked very different from the helmet when the pants were wet. Maybe they couldn't get the golds to match correctly, so they decided to go back to the khaki look.

Yeah I agree; NFL players are such slobs when they play nowadays... Jersey is not tucked in... Socks way too high. Not enough white sock... Pants are worn like bike shorts...Black tape worn all the way to the shins giving an appearance of black boots... That's why sometimes the throwback look doesn't work - it's worn incorrectly by today's player especially with those abbreviated stripes. The 9ers and Jaguars new jerseys with the funny cuts is only the beginning. You'll see the new fit on other teams that haven't signed on - such as the Steelers or Browns with the thick stripe accents - chaos will ensue on this board if that day ever arrives.

The material of the pants has changed - a duller, slightly darker look - almost a lighter shade of khaki different from the throwback set - but darker than last year's set. I hope Colorwerx can clarify this new uniform's pants color - I believe it's a change to match the helmet - but of course it's hard to match metallic colors on cloth and on plastic (e.g. saints, cowboys).
