risio
I've had this baseball card holder since 91, yet I never made the connection here. The logo on the front is pretty much the 1997 logo. Any info on this?
maz
Scale down the hat size, and I think they wouldve been better off with that one, provided there is no red in it.

The '97 logo is simply a re-tooled version of the '91 logo.
Krona
certainly an early concept of the same idea. better, really. i never liked the current logo. looks bush league. i really liked the previous logo, but it didnt fit the identity very well. i'd like to see the pirates uses a skull/skeleton of some sort. maybe a swingin' skeleton? let the admirals haters start.... IceCap
Look cool. Kind of wish they would have used it. PotD 26/2/12 1/7/15 2020 BASS Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal Regular Season Champion 2021 BASS NFL Pick'em Regular Season Champion
Yac12
I like the 1991 version better than the one they use now.I liked the ones they had during the 80s and then the one they used in the early 90s.

Exactly identical. They took his sword and changed his hat. Removed some of the mustache. That's it.

I, personally, think the first one, with a few tweaks, defiantely is better than the one they went with. Especially with the hat, it ties in better to the previous one they used during the 80's... and before. https://dribbble.com/MakaioCall

AsM29
This is a pretty sweet find. I actually have something similar, except I think it might be an even older version of this logo. I will try to scan it and post it up soon.
patsox
I think I like everything about the older logo better. The only problem I see with it is that I don't see how you could fit in a wordmark with it.

Cujo
I don't care what logo the Pirates use (since they're all mediocre) -- but they need to get rid of the red. To me, that color just doesn't belong.

To me, that color just doesn't belong.I actually like the red. I don't know why, but it looks pretty good to me. Except for that awful red vest they wore. Just keep the red as a accent and nothing more. I liked the black hat with the red brim. I owe one of them,
KJTALBOT
The red is a great accent color. Also, who wants to join my new facebook group, 'Give the Pirate his hat back'? Everyone loves a roundel.
