Jaguars getting new uniforms

They've been teasing the new uniform for over two years? :P

Are we supposed to pay attention to the poster on the door as the uni...or just a generic uni?

I would applaud them for going old-school if so.

No, the poster is in every NFL locker room. It's a uniform standards poster that put the uniform regulations in writing for every player to see.

I think that's incredibly interesting... does anyone have a scan of this? I always wondered how the league communicated that to the players.

Do NHL, MLB, and the NBA have similar items? Just curious.

Thanks!

I actually have the two posters (one is just the written rules) hanging in my office. There was a scan in a thread here not too long ago... anyone?

All but maybe the tape across the shoe....I think every DB breaks that rule in the NFL today! My hat goes off to Deion "Prime Time" Sanders for the ushering in of a care-free DB mentality that we now have today!

I'm not sure you're paying attention... all we hear from the players is that this is the "no fun league" that polices every little thing with an iron hand, but if you really read the full uniform guide list, these rules are destroyed every week. Especially jerseys with respect to sleeve length. The rules (in the long form poster) state that sleeves should be a uniform length and no protective padding should be exposed... hmm... really? Mr. Hovan? And socks? "White from the top of the shoe to the midpoint of the lower leg, with approved team colors from the midpoint to the top"... oh, OK. In any given NFL game, try to find more than a handfull of players wearing the socks this way. A few do, but more pull the white up most of the way, and most leave it so low you'd barely know the white is there.

A lot of the things complained about on this board are specifically adressed in the long-form rules. If it were up to me, I'd be MORE draconian about the NFL uniform (significantly), not less.

Hey guys, check out this video that EA Sports posted over the weekend. At 0:05, 0:11 and 3:53 one of the players is wearing a jersey I have never seen before, in Jaguars colors. It could be a fashion jersey for all I know, but it does seem like an interesting find...

Edit: added the best screengrab I could find.

If that is the new jersey, I think I like it. It is clean and simple but looks pretty good. The thin gold stripe is a nice way to include all team colors in the uniform. The number font does look like what we can see in the billboard pic.

How in the world does that look like a Jags jersey to anyone? If anything, it looks like the new Lions jersey to me.

Doesn't even look like an NFL jersey to me. It looks like one of those college football jerseys made by Colosseum or something

Exactly my thoughts. That's a North Carolina Colosseum jersey.

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.

I dont think everyone's wearing a legit NFL jersey. I feel like the people there are wearing what they want, some guys are wearing polo shirts, some are wearing jerseys. After some analysis... aka... watching the video, I have to agree that it is a Carolina jersey of some sort.

*EDIT* someone beat me to it, but heres the pic to prove what he said.

The World Basketball Championship, the Davis Cup, Ryder Cup, Iraq: Every day there's further proof that we, as a nation, are not very good at international competition.

I wasn't making a complaint...I agree that the NFL is a bit restrictive in respect to certain things a player can wear or do during the game that may seem a bit over the top. Uniform wise I agree that the socks can be about the most consitent thing on all players but unless you fine them an extreme amount of $$ every week, I don't see it changing. Didn't Clinton Portis get fined like $5k a week when he did his thing? I think that's why you don't see linemen doing it because they either don't think there is a need for them to be 'flashy' or because most don't make as much $ as marquee players in other positions.

I mentioned Deion because I remember him styling pretty much all of what was posted on that poster. The head band, loose sleeves, a large towel, etc... he just came to mind with that one. I blame the NFL for allowing players like Chris Hovan to wear their jerseys as they do. The league approves the tailoring of the jersey per player I'm assuming, so knowing a players intentions of having a 'tank top' style jersey should fall on them. Fine them $50k a game or suspend them for a single game with no pay and maybe owners, coaches and the players will get the point.

I'm not keen on wanting to know wether or not a C, G or T has on deodorant! Either that or make the sleeves form fitting like X-Under Armor and have at it....
