hell yeah for "Half Man, Half Amazing".

I nicknamed myself that in PE football after I kept dominating everyone :D

I was tentative to get into AND 1 Nicknames --

But right up there with "Half Man, Half Amazing" is "Hot Sauce", "Head Ache", "Main Event", "Booger", "A.O." with a few others whom's awesome nicknames slip the mind.

But how can anyone disagree that the greatest nickname ever, for any sports, is "MJ"? When you mention "MJ", everyone knows who you're talking about.

I always liked the nickname I gave to Mike Modano which never caught on....

"Cool Mo-D"

I've always called him Mike "The Material Girl" Modano

But never to his face, of course.

And let us not forget the one and only sports nickname ever penned by David Letterman - Terry "Fat Tub of Goo" Forster.

I always liked "Stevie Franchise" for Steve Francis

Of course, its probably because thats MY last name, and people called me Franchise gorwing up, playing soccer, before any of us had HEARD of Steve.

NCFA Sunset Beach Tech - Octopi

and my buddies and i used to call former Detroit Tiger Melvin Nieves, "The Mayor" because of his resemblance to former Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer. we called Jody Reed, "The Batboy" because he looked like a little kid on the field. we called any bad free agent pickup, "Bip Incaviglia", because Bip Roberts and Pete Incaviglia were signed by the Tigers in the same offseason and sucked terribly.

Guest -*Sterling84*-

You guys have covered most of the good ones I can remember.

But to add some local flavor to it.......

Paul Molitor "The Ignitor"

Terrell Buckley - "The Vaccinator" cause he'll give you a shot! That self-prescribed nickname cracks me up.

Kabeer Gbaja Biamila - "KGB" always really impressed with that one, although obvious

Frankie "Bag o' Doughnuts" Winters

back in those days we had lots of Packer nicknames but I dont think you can count them really : Chewie, Grave Digger, et al.

Stealing Berman's my favorites were always Eric "Sleeping With" Bienemy and Darren "It's" McCarty "And I'll cry if I want to"

I suppose McGwire and "Big Mac" were pretty famous.

Blasts from the past

J.R. Richards "The Towering Inferno"

Earl Campbell "The Tyler Rose" Carl Mauck wrote a song about him called "The Oiler Cannonball" which was written to the tune of "The Wabash Cannonball" pretty funny lyrics if you can find it on the net.
