New Verizon Logo!

I'm not really sure how anyone can slam their current logo, and not think that it isn't appropriate for the company, doesn't present a nice image, and won't stand the test of time.

Could anyone give actual reasons that they don't like that logo or see this fake new one as an upgrade?

I'm liking the idea of the fake a lot. It rather reminds me of the Skype logo, but I still like the way it feels. As for not liking the Verizon logo, I don't like the gradients, the emphasis of the 'z' for no reason, and the lowercase lettering when the 'z' is large like uppercase letters would be. I'm not saying it is a bad logo, I'm just saying those are little things I don't like.

Simple, the skinny fading check looks awful on any background that isn't black. It seems weak. So fragile that it could be blown away by the wind. Just look at the Verizon building. Is the check falling off? Is that the right angle?

Maybe the check is really hands on a clock saying, "Hey, it's time to change this crappy logo." We should get AT&T's deathstar to blow up Verizon's logo and replace it something classy like Sprint's (that logo is the only redeeming thing about that crap factory).

To start with, it has a gradient out of nowhere...using gradients irks me. Using gradients sporadically is just dumb. The "line" in the shape of a V is just too ambiguous...okay, I see the shape...but what are you really trying to portray here? It is really making the whole logo appear off balanced.

The gradient in the line shape...again, why? Also...why emphasis on the "Z"?

It's a pretty horrible logo man.
