CCSLC Championship Ring Thread

Gary Kubiak, head coach of the Broncos has his own amazing championship ring collection and win or lose, will be getting a new one.

Anyone want to comment or discuss the design or details of his rings (shown below?).

While I feel the Broncos Super Bowl ring from 1999 is gorgeous (shown below, front middle), there is something amazing about the 49ers last Super Bowl, the first ring to feature 5 Lombardi trophies with 5 marques diamonds.

The relative size of the front row rings are correct, because every one of the rings in the picture were photographed by me and are player rings and 100% authentic.  The rings in the top background might appear a hair larger had I moved them up to the same row as the front row (because objects get smaller when they are moved back).

Yes the Broncos AFC ring is that big.  When others (or me) compile ring photos and merge different pictures together, it's almost impossible to get the exact size right.  Fortunately, I own just about every NFL championship ring since super bowl one (I am missing just two winners and NFC rings).

I KNEW you had it right!  Wow, that's a big ring. Thanks for answering my question. And thanks again for the neat pictures. It's so amazing that you have all those rings. What an accomplishment. And yet, you are still in the hunt for a couple. The pursuit never ends, really, right?

nice picture of Kubiak's rings. How did he get a Niners ring in between all those Denver rings?  I am ignorant of his personal history, but I'm guessing he got those rings while PLAYING football. So did he leave Denver and then come back? TIA for any light you can shed.

That's completely crazy. And probably the coolest thing I've ever heard. I can't even imagine the premiums you must pay for the insurance policy to cover that kind of collection.

Kubiak spent a single season as the qb coach for the 49ers.  During that single season, he helped Young have an mvp season, and they won the Super bowl.  So he was awarded the niners ring as the qb coach.  the next season, I believe he was able to get a promotion and moved up the coaching ranks by working for another team.   Kubiak is a rising star in the coaching ranks. To learn more about his career you can check out my blog from this week, or wikkipedia.

Thanks for your kind words.  Meanwhile, the rings shown in the picture are all magnificent.  Which design do you like the most?  As I said, that 49ers rings and all those large diamonds and trophies is my favorite.

Thank you for your kind words.... yes, please don't remind me, lol, the insurance cost is high, but worth every penny.  The rings are locked away at the bank vault and only taken out when it's time to take some pictures.

The Giants Super Bowl XXI ring was a very classy, and elegant ring (shwon bottom right)

Some of the players on the team, thought it needed more bling and a few of them used a local jeweler to bling it up (shown bottom left).

Which design do the posters here like better?  Me, I like the simple, original version better.  Any thoughts?

I love that Niners ring, it's one of my favorites!  Also one of the most comfortable championship rings I've ever tried on. The five Lombardi trophies are AWESOME.  what a statement they make. im hoping Green Bay can do something Similar on their next ring.

As for the Giants ring......yeah, I'm not really a fan of what they did. That Giants ring is one of my all time favorites and the blue stone under the trophy is a huge part of the elegance and impact of the design. It was truly a classic design. The yellow diamonds add nothing. Don't get me wrong, I love yellow diamonds and colored stones in general when it comes to championship rings. But in THIS case....no. It doesn't work for me.  I think I know your tastes a little bit...and I'm guessing you agree with me?

Thanks for answering my question about Kubiak. I'll check your blog for sure.

To celebrate Super Bowl 50 week, and to honor the two teams that made it to the big game, here is a picture of all eight championship rings the teams have.  Seven of the eight belong to the Broncos.

Any comments, thoughts, or opinions on any of the designs of the eight rings?

I really like this collection and pictures you posted! That AFC ring to the left with the 6 Diamonds/3 per side, that ring is awesome. Pictures don't do it justice, nor does the 2nd winning SB ring. That is a piece too. I am too hoping Josten's does the ring for the Broncos and it is created with a hint towards tradition and a modern theme.

And the largest super bowl ring ever made, the 2014 Patriots ring weighs......only 100 grams! That is according to Jostens who have let us hanging so far.

I am sure Mike would make a great blog post about it on his site comparing the the heaviest rings so far. I do belive this last Patriots ring was 10K and previous ones were 14K.

Here is a link and video from recent visit by CBS news to Jostnes.

I had heard the new ring was 100 grams by someone at Jostens, but now that you are reporting it too, I feel two Jostens sources must be reliable!  Thanks!

Keep in mind the last huge 10K super bowl ring was the Ravens from a couple of years back.  That ring weighs around 88-90 grams so the Pats ring could be about 10% larger than the Ravens ring and that would make sense based upon the photos we have seen.

Jostens Is Making The Super Bowl 50 Ring

WCCO 4 News, a Minnesota Television Station is reporting that Jostens has been awarded the Super Bowl 50 Ring Project From The Denver Broncos.

This has to be the fastest Super Bowl ring manufacturing assignment I can remember.  Usually, teams in the sports community meet with multiple championship ring manufactures to see what is available once a budget is decided upon by the team.

And I believe, probably due to superstition, karma, and bad luck, teams don't usually meet or even discuss championship rings until the title event has concluded.  So is it possible, the Broncos met with Jostens and others before the Super Bowl to discuss championship rings?

Anyway, it's very fitting that Jostens, will go down in history as creating the first Super bowl ring (for the Green Bay Packers), and now the 50th Super Bowl ring for the Denver Broncos.

Because the design process takes a while and multiple drawings and prototypes are usually presented to the team for feedback before production begins, It takes months for the championship rings to be made.  Look for the Super Bowl rings to show up on the internet around June and be presented shortly afterwards.

Once the design is finalized, Jostens workers will make a mold for each of the 53 players on the team with their name and jersey number on the side.  Additionally, there will be player-sized Super Bowl rings for the owners, their family, coaches, scouts, and high-level team executives.

The Broncos will have complete discretion on how many player-size Super Bowl rings to award to other employees with the team, and the Broncos can design and manufacture smaller championship rings for other staff who are lower on the corporate ladder.

Not only is it possible to award lesser rings, they can me made with non-gold metals and possibly imitation diamonds.  These options are entirely up to the Broncos.

Peyton Manning has made headlines for an incident that allegedly occurred twenty years ago. His accuser settled with the University of Tennessee for: $300,000, the value of their accrued leave, any money owed for previous work and a handful of miscellaneous items which included two championship rings:

1. 1991 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship Ring
2. 1996 SEC Indoor Track & Field Championship Ring

I wasn't able to find a pic of the 1996 SEC Indoor Track & Field Championship Ring but if anyone has it please post it. I'd like to see it.

Jostens Super Bowl Ring Bragging Rights On Twitter

This tweet was sent out recently.  This Championship Ring Picture Rocks!

While the picture of six fairly recent Jostens Super Bowl rings is magnificent, and shows the amazing championship ring work that Jostens does, there are some issues with the photograph that championship ring enthusiasts should be aware of.

1)  The Super Bowl rings shown above are not photographed to scale.  In reality the Patriots first Super Bowl ring from 2001, shown on the lower left is smaller than the two other Patriot Super Bowl rings shown to the right of that ring.

2)  In actuality, the Patriots Super Bowl ring from 2003, shown in the middle of the bottom row, is larger than the 2001 Super Bowl ring but smaller than the ring shown on the right (the 2004 championship ring).

3)  If the photo was done recently, where's the Patriots latest Super Bowl ring?  That championship ring is the largest Super Bowl ring ever, however, in this illustration it would probably have been scaled down as to not dwarf the other rings.

4)  All the rings were photo-shopped very carefully into the picture as it would be impossible to line them up the way the illustration shows.

5)  The Packers Super Bowl ring from 2010, shown in the upper middle is the heaviest Super Bowl ring ever, since it was made of solid Platinum, where the most recent Patriots Super Bowl ring (not shown) was made of 10K white gold and although larger, is lighter since 10K gold is around 20% lighter than platinum.  I bring this up because the Packer Super Bowl ring is also not to scale, it is smaller than the two Super Bowl rings it is shown next to.
