RIP Buffaslug

With the team likely not making the playoffs (and Saturday being on the third jersey schedule), tonight could be the last time we ever see the Slug! Team managing partner Larry Quinn eluded to earlier in the season that there may be a change to the retro third-jersey-style uniforms for the team's 40th anniversary (which is next season). I hope he follows through, but with him, I'm not gonna hold my breath.

About time the Sabres got rid of the Buffaslug.

That logo has been UGLY to begin with!

I say "good riddance" to the buffaslug!

But... but... now that the Buffaslug is gone, and the OKC Thunder abomination (possibly) about to be replaced or relegated to secondary status, what are we going to have left to pick on?

Where do you see that the OKC is about to be replaced or downgraded? All I'm seeing is a mascot.

That would be their 40th ANNIVERSARY. Not the same. That's saying 40 years since they started. For 40th season, you count that inaugural season, aswear you wouldn't when referring to an anniversary year. You would start 1 year from the first year.

We can still pick on both of them. But now, I won't feel the need to pick on it every time I see it, which is a good thing. Those logos were not made to represent a professional sports franchise never should have seen the light of day at all. They both should of been scrapped like first drafts that didn't cut it.

If you factor in the lockout, though, 2010-11 will be both their 40th season of play and their 40th anniversary.

The Rays logo is weak. Really weak. I say they are next to be picked on.

That or the Grizzlies. They could use an update, I hate that blue.

Looking at how some other anniversaries and celebrations have been handled, it appears the lockout season is being recognized as a season, just one that was not played. (Much like the Stanley Cup has the 2004-2005 year marked off "Season Not Played". Recognized, but not played.)

The Sabres current logo is one of the best in all of sports.

I hope you're being sarcastic there, fella? It's like calling the Clippers logo great.

Or saying the thing that you just left in the toilet is one of the best things you have ever smelt.

If they actually get rid of it, that would be a pretty short stay and an example of how the public can influence these things (like the 49er helmet that was never followed through with). Of course, it's unfair to those who shelled out a bundle of money for the jersey, but we're used to that.
