2009 MLB All Star Jerseys (BP)

For the Anaheim game in 2010, I think it would be cool to have something similar - but not exactly - the Angels font, with a halo around the first A's in American and National.

So the American league could go with the LA/Anaheim "A" while the National League could use the retro California Angels' lowercase "a" I suppose. Interesting contribution there. I like it.

I also like the wordmarks for this year's. Classy.

Go Gators. Go Blue Raiders. Go Commodores. Go USC Trojans.

Preds & Avs.

Braves, Rays, & Dodgers.

Titans, Colts, Broncos, Cardinals.

Grizzlies. 14ers, Jam.

Team Spirit + Laziness = Yay.

The other guy says the National League is Red with Light Blue inserts on the side and around the collar. Sounds interesting, but I want to wait for comfirmation or until I see them to be sure. And the American League is Navy with Red, as I expected.

This is going to mess with my head for the entire All-Star Break.

Going back if memory serves me correctly, these were the color combos for BP jerseys:

1998 in Denver had green jerseys for one of the leagues, and if I remember right purple for the other. I can't find any pictures right now, but I remember the green jerseys because I always thought that that was a cool look for the Rockies. You know, if the team ever decides to wear any other colors besides white, black, and more black.

Green for the American league and black for the National league. I know because I've got an official Ken Griffey Jr. all-star jersey from that year.

incorrect. it's the other way around. black for AL, green for NL in '98. i have an all star batting practice jersey collection going back to 1998. plus there's this:

Ah crap, you know what I meant. It's been a while since Griffey was in the American league, I'm coping with it.

That's the jersey I have, though, Griffey's. It's a mesh jersey, which was kind of disappointing at the time, but to still wear around to this day is nice and cool.

haha yes indeed. i loved that year's jerseys. actually, while i loved the graphics from '02, i thought that that year's mesh and the mesh they used for the '01 jerseys in seattle were the most annoying. that bigger, harder mesh as opposed to the pro-mesh they used in '98 and '99 and then continued from '03-'05 before they went the cool base route.

The '01 ASG was AL Green / NL Brick Red

Ok for Green. But why Brick red ? it's an Astros color. No sense with Seattle.

Got some Pics ??

Here were the All-Star colors for that year - sort of Mariners colors, but with a different Green, and the addition of the aforementioned Red:

Well technically green was not part of the Rockies identity, but was part of the All Star logo.

More perspective on the odd color choices:

1998 MLB All-Star Game Logo (Denver, Colorado):

I've got MLB All-Star Game logos on my short list for "color-adjusting".

Why do I get the feeling that your "short list" is longer than most people's just plain lists? ^_^ Anyway, do you have the BP jersey scripts from the same? If so, I'll be watching for the 2002 NL script when you start that thread; I think the 2002 NL BP jersey should serve as the model for a revised Nationals home script.

Green is a neutral baseball color in my mind. Any team with any sort of traditional identity (doesn't mean the identity has to be old) can pull off green as a complimentary color in a lot of cases.

In Seattle's case however, I'm not sure why they (1) didn't just use their dark teal and (2) felt the need to use red so prominently. Do they list the red from their baseball in their official colors, CW?

Yep:

As far as AL and NL uniform scripts go - I do have the ones used in 2002. Just a smattering here and there for some of the other seasons. I also have some obscure graphics - here's a taste from 1998:

They really went through the hassle of making a left and right field view? Seems kind of pointless to me.

Yep. That's how they were described to me.

Not sure how I feel about the light blue. Feels a little forced. And really makes it odd looking when next to the American League in just navy and red. Not to mention they have different sleeve piping/striping.

I like these a lot as well.

Well kinda.

I really like the wordmarks, but I don't know about the light blue, navy woulda worked just as well.

And I think it may look better if the bat placement was the same for both.

These are wonderful, the NL especially. The light blue reminds me of watching Ozzie do a backflip, and that's never a bad thing. I'll be picking one up for sure.
