Traditionalist here, and the old unis SUCK.

There is nothing classy about the "thing" on the side of the pants..ie Arizona.

Its like, wtf is that thing? I'll tell you what it is, it is the BUFFASLUG's trail of suck across all uniforms considered "modern".

And UConn, are you Georgetown in football and Navy, Red and white in basketball? Great brand awairness going on there. If you are a marketing major or fashion major at UConn g*d help you.

UCONN's football unis were alright but they started wearing the Navy monochrome at home too much and with the mono look those unis sucked.

C'mon guys, there's nothing wrong with clean blue & white uniforms with no adornment.

My alma mater, Georgia Southern, has worn blue & white with no stripes or colored cuffs/collars since we started our program in 1982. It is a very distinctive look and is admired by football fans from all over the country. We could have "upgraded" our unis, and have been pushed by Nike to do it, but tradition speaks loudest.

We had names on the back for four years, but the team voted in 2007 to go back to the tradition of plain jane. Our logo is stitched in a 1"x1" area at the V on the front collar. That's it, and the Eagles look sharp when they take the field each week.

I commend UConn for taking the initiative to join Georgia Southern, Penn State and Alabama in the club of "classiest uniforms in college football".

I get that you have pride in your school, but you realize that 9 out of 10 (maybe even fewer) couldn't tell you what Georgia Southern looks like, or even where it is?

To the poster that mentioned the "brand awareness" issue with the different schemes for Football and Basketball, I've found that they are more or less separate brands. UConn seems to refer to Basketball, while Football is called Connecticut... I don't know the logic, but that seems to be the case.

Bad new indeed! I liked the way they incorporated white in a way that made the unique shade of grey really stand out. The only thing that I can think that would be worse is if Army changed their uniforms (especially to those camo ones we saw in the navy game).

Ridiculous. The biggest problem with Nike, in my opinion, isn't their uniform designs. It's the fact that even when they come up with a good, modern design, they trash it five years later anyway.

Um, that's not modern. It's a plain jersey with a thick orange pants stripe. Explain how that's supposed to be modern.

Anyways, I can't say I'm sad to see the UCONN jerseys go. I wasn't a big fan. They were ok. Penn State has one of my favorite sets, so it's not much of a downgrade IMO.

I have to agree with chesnutz about OSU, the only thing modern about these is the number font, and that was already in existence in the "sports bra" era. I guess you could say the pants are modern but really it's pretty simplistic. But the ass stripe not connecting annoys me to no end.

Connecticut, in my opinion, was one of nike's successes. The piping on arms and pants matches perfectly, and so does the font/coloring from helmet to jersey. uconn is just going to have more identity problems if they ditch this and go an extremely simple route like everyone is saying, although I'm not too sure that is even true, is it? Sounds like a false rumor.

The point he was originally trying to make was that the OSU uniform was a "good, modern" design. I don't think the leg stripe not extending an inch further makes it modern.

In case you haven't noticed, simple, minimalistic design has always been considered modern, and it's now more popular than it's ever been, so 'modern' would be a perfect word to describe those Oregon State duds, if you ask me. Personally, I would have trotted out something like this for the Huskies. I liked their look, but all those outlines did make this package look a little cluttered. I went with a simple shoulder and pant stripe, kept the arched nameplate on the front (the best part) and when I was done, said, why not put the stripes on the socks so they'll look even more like the Patriots. All kidding aside, I think they need to decide whether they're going to commit to red or not for all sports. Personally, I'm in favor, as long as they keep the grey a major part of the set, like I did with the numbers, helmet C and shoulder stripes.

andrew, I like yours a lot, but the red just seems...off. I think it's mainly the font I don't like for it. The nameplate and numbers seem too thin. Also, the the four elements of the uniform all have different stripe styles, I prefer a uniform that has unified striping. The helmet has no stripes, the jersey has a USC style curved stripe, the pants have a two colored stripe straight stripe, and the socks have 3 adidas style hoops. Just makes no sense to me.

As for what they unveiled...ew. I'd rather see them in Penn State plain uniforms. The piping just ends halfway down the jersey. What the hell? And I usually love all white uniforms, but that one just looks disgusting for some reason.
