I take it the "A" is for "Atrocious."

So THIS is what I helped bring into the world? (some of you may remember a short while ago I actually worked on the trademark clearance for the team name)

Great.

I don't hate this. Might be a little too cute for a pro basketball team, but I don't get the utter disgust that most everyone else is feeling.

I agree. I'm not in love with this, but its not aba caliber clip art. its a well designed character/logo, just not what you expect for a sports team. its playful, in a different style than pointy serif, logo over the wordmark soon to be dated trash that plagues the sports design world. i like this the way i like the milwaukke admirals rebrand. it comes from a different illustration style than some testosterone driven logos. it may look more appropriate on a pair of kids pj's, but you guys are being a bit dramatic. that being said, the wordmark sucks. arc upper is a tool not a crutch.

The wordmarks make me want to eat some pizza.

I want to spray a liquid on my tires and gawk at my car when I park it outside a convenience store.

Thirded. I think it's actually kind of cute. Maybe not as whimsical as the Milwaukee Admirals logo (which got a similar reaction around here) but still fun in its own way.

Hmmmm...I thought of this person:

Haha. This guy also popped into my head:

Anyway, just a horrible logo. I thought it was for like a semi-pro football team at first. I mean, seriously, WTF? That is just a bad identity.

They should have simply retained the franchise's original nickname and branded the relocated team as the Springfield Arsenal. Prior to the establishment of the Springfield Armory in 1794, the munitions manufacturing and storage facility on the site was variously referred to as the Continental Arsenal, Federal Arsenal and Springfield Arsenal.

Barring that, they should have gone with Springfield Fame or Springfield Legends.

As for the mascot, put a duster on him and he'd make a fine alternative, kid-friendly logo for the VB Bushrangers of Australian cricket.

Notice the tiny, pixel-wide strip of white space in the middle of the "O"? That's lazy design, folks.
