siegel0572
I have seen a few concepts here on the boards for high schools of people looking for help for designs for their school. So for this project I decided to do some for my alma mater the Moeller Fighting Crusaders from Cincinnati, Ohio. First I will give a little background. Moeller is an all boys catholic school that was founded in 1960. As they approach their 40th year the Crusaders have racked up 23 team and 21 individual state titles, 5 national titles, and 99 Greater Catholic League titles. They have also had 136 All American winners and have had 46 alumni sign professional contracts. The two most well known Moeller grads are Barry Larkin ('84) and Ken Griffey Jr. ('87). I myself was a proud member of the Moeller baseball family form 1984-1988. With all this out of the way, I will now start with my concepts. I begin with the Crusaders football team. Their current set consists of a solid blue helmet with a gold M and a gold facemask. The uniforms have gone the plain route the last few years. The jerseys have the typical triple stripes on the sleeves and pants, with the home set being a blue jersey with white pants and the road set being all white or white with blue pants. For my concept I combined a little modern with some past looks. When I was in school the team wore gold pants with stars down the sides so I incorporated that with a modern take on the jerseys. I also added trim and striping on the helmet. The one thing that will not change are the pride stickers given, gold stars for the offense and skull and crossbones for the defense. Buckeye Brad
The mighty men of Moe would be proud to wear these unis. I graduated from Moeller in '92 so I missed the "stars", but I like them. On their real unis, one thing that I don't care for is the different shades of blue on the helmet and jersey. You have nicely corrected this. On my monitor the blue you've chosen looks a little dark, I'd be interested to see it lightened/brightened a bit.Your road designs look just about perfect. The only issue I've got with the home design is the white "M" on the sleeve. I'm thinking it doesn't fit with the yellow "M" on the helmet, and it just looks pale against the richness of the rest of the uniform.I like the helmet stripe. I'd like to see the helmet "M" serifs a little wider, as in the current design.Overall, great job!I heard that the team is getting new unis this fall. Hopefully they will look as sharp as your design.
joshhockey
I think this is a very nice design. The only thing that bugs me is that the wordmark is way too big. Other than that I like it.Also, did you actually get to go to school with Ken Griffey Jr.?
Brave-Bird 08
ehhh, you just kinda filled the original template different colors in different places...nothing impressive. I dont like the socks, the white belt, or the white cuffs... script looks good, especially if done on paint, but its huge
siegel0572
I think this is a very nice design. The only thing that bugs me is that the wordmark is way too big. Other than that I like it.Also, did you actually get to go to school with Ken Griffey Jr.? As far as the wordmark goes, this is how it is on their jerseys. They don't do just a little tag under the collar, the school name is in full letters across the chest. And yes I did get the chance to play with Ken Griffey in 1997 during my junior year. And before someone asks, yes he was that good in high school. It was a pleasure to watch him play.
DelayedPenalty
There was an article in the Ann Arbor News last week about Barry Larkin, a Michigan alumnus, and it mentioned Moeller High School. That's the first thing I thought of when I read this title.Apparently Barry was quite the football player, and went to Michigan on a football scholarship. Bo Schembechler allowed him to also try out for the baseball team, and Barry never played a down of football for Michigan! The rest, as they say, is history! siegel0572
For my second set I decided to do the sport that I spent my 4 years at Moeller playing. I give you my take on the baseball uniforms. When I was at Moeller we had one uniform, all grey with Moeller written in cursive on the front. The current teams wear home and away and the varsity has a blue alternate all with block lettering and blue/gold/white piping. I went with the vest look as something different that they have never worn. I mixed in some of my old days with the script and used an alternate school logo on the BP tops. I also added a gold brim to the hat as opposed to the all blue they have worn.
CAB
Baseball unis look good, but the hat logo is much too large. The football unis are alright, but I don't really like that you just sorta filled in the template. The helmet and shoulder logo also looks very stretched horizontally and needs to be centered on the helmet.
BIGBAD
ive always liked the white football uniforms with the colored sleevesbut ive never liked the dark uniforms with the light colored sleevesso...i like the white jerseys but not the blue. delete the yellow sleeves
Jigga
The Ms should probably be consistent on the cap and helmet. The helmet one looks vertically smushed compared to the cap one. Yeah, the cap logo is too large, and I would rather your alt didn't have a logo on it, but I dig the "feel" of the home/away set...I think it is awesome that you played HS ball with George Kenneth Griffey, Jr...he's been my favorite player since the day he began his career.
