I just found the first pic of Vick in an Eagles uniform. Pretty good Photoshop job if I do say so myself... Although the green is JUST a hair too light.

I like that Vick got another chance and I have been looking forward to see him play this season. And yes, the Eagles can run the Wildcat with Vick by putting him in the backfield with McNabb.

Isn't that just a shotgun, seeing as he's a quarterback?

So, has anyone tried to order a custom "(Ron) Mexico" Eagles #7 jersey yet? :P

Nope.

I think a Vick jersey for my dog would work fine...

Yeah, I'm pretty much done with the Eagles and done with the NFL. This is the final straw.

I'm just so, so mad right now.

I mean, yeah, I understand that he's paid his debt to society and all and he deserves a second chance. Just not with my team. But it doesn't matter because they're not my team anymore.

The Eagles really came out of left field on this one but lets just say if this Vick thing works out look out NFC, Vick and Westbrook in the back field that will be fun to watch.

But the first thing I thought of his Kevin Kolb's injury must be pretty bad because if your a backup in Philly you have to be ready to get thrown in at anytime.

Signing Vick is an intriguing move by The Eagles. I actually like it. If he and #5 can co-exist they could give opposing defenses all sorts of problems. Imagine lining up Vick at HB in a 2 back set. He could run, run a pass route, or take a pitch or hand off and throw. All of that is just what you have to worry about Vick doing. Then there's Westbrook. After that there's still the rest of the offense to contend with. The Eagles just got really interesting.

Overreact much?

Peculiar move. Reid said that it wasn't done behind Donovan's back, but I just dont see how a historically thin-skinned QB will handle it as soon as he falters the tiniest bit and the fans start clamoring for Ronny Mexico.

There's more to this than Vick. I don't like the way that Lurie and Banner and Reid have run the team the last couple of years, and they seem to think that they know what's best for the team and anyone who questions them is an idiot. Not only that, but every year they find a way to do just well enough to save everyone's bacon for another season or two. Plus, I'm still bitter over Dawkins. This was the capper.

Banner and Reid need to go, with Vick right behind them.

If Vick were to line up as the running back, I'd call it a wildcat formation. Whatever they want to call it, the thought of having McNabb and Vick on the field at the same time is scary.

When I first found out about the Vick trade, I had to check wikipedia to see if Donovan McNabb was still with the Eagles. This trade surprised me because the Eagles did not seem like a team in search for another QB. I was expecting someone like the Vikings to take a chance on Vick. It will be interesting to see how the gametime will be split among the two.

That's so silly. Before Reid, you had to go back 20 years for the last Super Bowl appearance. And during his time, they've basically been one of the top ten teams in the league year in and year out. It'd be nice to hang a banner, sure, but to be relevant for a decade in the NFL? Cincinnati is jealous. So are Buffalo, Arizona, Carolina and a host of other cities.

Your team signed a guy who hasn't played in two years and is far from a shoo-in from even making the team.

Even without these reasons, I would not call it an overreaction. While I think he has the legal right to play, I am glad my team did not sign him. I would have a hard timing cheering for them with Vick there. I may just take the Vick era off from my Vikings fandom.

Andy Reid: "I'm a believer that, as long people go through the right process, they deserve a second chance. Michael has done that. I've done a tremendous amount of homework on this and followed his progress. He's got some great people in his corner."

Very ironic in that he said this, when Montgomery County (PA) Judge Steven O'Neill said, "There isn't any structure there that this court can depend upon," before sentencing Reid's son Britt to up to 23 months in jail plus probation.

Agreed. Reid couldn't help out his own bloody family. How should we expect Vick to play out differently?

Yes, but he mismanaged the team in the Super Bowl, which is one of the contributing factors to their loss. He doesn't have a consistent coaching style, and he has no idea of how to manage a game.

They haven't won a Super Bowl yet, and they won't as long as he's calling the shots.

Like I said, I think they all need to go before I even start to care about them again.

First of all, I think I was just as shocked as everyone else in here when I saw that The Iggles took the flyer on Vick--that was COMPLETELY unexpected. I'm surprised he went with an East-Coast team--but then again, they're the ones who chose to sign him, so there you go.

After that initial shock wore off, I LOVED the move. And here's why:

I have to believe the Eagles signed his guy based off his offensive potential while HOPING TO THE HIGH HEAVENS that this guy keeps his nose clean, his path straight and narrow. Plus, he was signed for a low number, so the financial risk is little to none. And here's the other thing I'm surprised no one's mentioned yet...Mr. Instant Offense himself (that'd be Westbrook), as potent a weapon as he is, is also oft-injured, so if the Eagles can sell Vick (which they really won't have to--after all, HE works for THEM) on the idea that he won't be and doesn't have to be a full-time QB, and Westbrook does end up going down, Vick can easily step in in his place...and I don't think there's a singular person sitting in front of their screen reading these boards that DOESN'T think Vick could contribute some instant offense.

Here's the other thing...let's say McNabb goes down. You've got a capable back-up right there. Not to mention that McNabb's game has changed quite a good bit from his run-happy first few years in the league. He'd be a good model for Vick to learn from in that regard, if Vick still aspires to be a full-time QB. And, if Vick does step in, he and Westbrook in the same backfield will pose some serious issues for whatever defense is lined up across from them. And if the Eagles even look at incorporating some element of the Wildcat in their offense, with #5, #36, and whatever # Vick takes all on the field at once...not to mention #10, DeSean Jackson...look out world. That's got "SCARY" written all over it--provided Jackson comes into his own this year and keeps his focus. (And I have yet to mention Jeremy Maclin...)

From a purely football point-of-view, I love the move. PR-wise, if Vick steps in, can keep himself pointed in the right direction, and starts to have some success there, I'd think a sizeable chunk of Eagle Nation (though maybe not necessarily some members of said nation up in here) would be quick to take to him. And, as TFoA mentione earlier, I DARE PETA to try any of their rallies outside of the Linc...anyone think PETA would REALLY want to fool with as rabid a fanbase as Eagle Nation? I thinks not, sir.

This will be a VERY interesting season for the Eagles...and I ain't gon' lie, I might have to keep a closer eye on them Birds this year. (Especially since I already forecast them to be this year's version of last year's Steelers, and my NFC pick for the Super Bowl.)
