slightly shotgunned
Sounds like Chris Henry has been involved in a "very serious" car accident. This from four letter. Word around here is that he's "fighting for his life" and that he was in the process of turning his life around. I wish him well.
Coast2CoastAM2006
ESPN 980 (out of DC) is reporting that Redskins de facto GM Vinny Cerrato is resigning.More than any other move that will happen at Redskins Park this (off)season, I will cheer most loudly and smile widest at this one. This guy just couldn't do the job. This is only step one of quite a few steps left. Snyder must be REALLY trying to reel in one of those big fish coach/GM guys. Jim Zorn, the rest of the coaching staff, Clinton Portis, Jason Campbell, Chris Samuels, y'all are on notice. Pack your sh** and get ready to move.If I were advising Snyder at this point, I would say get a Cowher or a Holmgren or a Shanahan in, pay them big bucks and leave them to run the football side of the franchise for a year or three without interfering at all.cowboys did that with parcells and he did half ass make the team respectable. while not super bowl or playoff worthy, it is better than 5-11 with players that couldn't make a af2 roster. not a bad thing for the skins to try out. let a football mind run it and leave him alone. might actually turn the team around. imagine that. Pack your sh** and get ready to move.Okay, so that's not gonna happen...at least not the GM part because the 'Skins have named former Buccaneers GM Bruce Allen, son of former 'Skins coach George Allen (and brother of former VA gov. George "Macaca" Allen), executive vice president of football operations and general manager. Um...yay. On January 16, 2013 at 3:49 PM, NJTank said: Btw this is old hat for Notre Dame. Saintsfan
So Bruce Allen became Tampa Bay GM in 2004. Which coincidentally around the time the franchise started to go backwards somewhat? (Though fair enough he was booted out before things really disintegrated this season!) Does it put Gruden's name on the table as head coach? 2011/12 WFL Champions
tBBP
1.) For the sake of 'Skins nation, I sure hope not. I saw what Gruden did to the Buccaneers...two big issues Gruden had as a head coach: a/ his masturbatory love of quarterbacks (which is part of why the Bucs never had a solid long-term starter for a good four or five years or so) and b/ his love of veterans, which is how the Buccaneers went from one of the younger teams in the league with Dungy at the helm to damn near the league's oldest in about a two-year span after Gruden got there. Chucky's a hell of an offensive mind, but as a HC...eh, let's just say I have my reservations.2.) For the sake of MNF viewers, I also hope not. Chucky says he wants to stay in the MNF booth, and I hope he keeps that mindset. He's the only one of the three commentators to whom I can stand to listen. He makes the broadcasts fun and informative at the same time (so long as the Favreness isn't featured on the field). *Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. || dribbble || Behance ||
Jigga
Gruden is okay, but I'm tired of the trying to out-Jaws Jaws thing. There is just one too many people up in that booth. And is there a single player or coach that Chucky doesn't like or have such glowing things to say about? Good Lord...it's laughable. As a proud fan of the 'Skins, do me a huge favor, Messrs. Allen and Snyder...do not sign Chucky. I don't give a damn if dude would do the job for free. You don't want any part of Chucky...listen to my homey Bucco! Jimmy!
I'm of the opinion that you just need one Super Bowl to cement your legacy. Look at Elway. After he won his first against Green Bay everyone said that was it. The monkey was off his back, he finally had the last piece of the puzzle needed to complete his legacy. The second one against Atlanta a year later was just icing. No one said "ok, now lets see him win two" after the Green Bay game. He just needed one. That was it. So I don't think Payton Manning needs a second ring to really cement himself as one of the greats. He's won one, that's all he needs. The only time the number of rings comes into play is during the Manning vs Brady discussions when Pats fans boast that Brady has two more rings. Yet I think we all know that it takes more then the number of championships won to determine the greatness of any player. Really, Mike? Elway DID lead the Broncos to three Super Bowls before the win against GB. Would he be any less of a legend had he not won a big one? Same argument could be applied to Marino. Cujo
Going back to the SNF game for a moment.... Following the Chris Henry tragedy, Bengals vs. Chargers became even more appealing. Again, it's a shame NBC chose to put the nation to bed early with Favre vs. Cupcake.

Im welling up over here. I really didnt think Danny would fire his lackey, I really didnt. Bruce Allen is a decent hire, we'll see what happens with the coaching staff over the offseason. I'd like us to retain Campbell and just stock up on good offensive linemen and draft picks. dfwabel
I did not see this game as a slugfest, but...can Bob Papa show any less emotion on this game?I understand he is the radio guy for the NYG, but hell, you fights on HBO with more emotion. Sure I get it; you have to spend Thursday night in Jacksonville, FL. Plus, on Friday, you have to fly from Jacksonville to New Orleans and there are no direct flights (even on Southwest, I checked), but dude, do better than this. He shows more emotion when reading the promo for the Saturday game since he has a personal interest in it.
