Normally, visiting teams get introduced "as a team", to avoid the whole "SUCKS" cheer every time a name is read. Josh McDaniels asked if they could introduce their defense before Sunday's game, and the Eagles apparantly will oblige. I'm kind of surprised, because knowing them, Sunday is their worst nightmare. The crowd will be cheering louder and longer for a visiting player than for any of the home players, and that will likely last all game long. There will also likely be a ton of orange 20 jerseys in the stands, to go along with the "old" green 20s.

I personally cannot wait for Sunday. I hope that the crowd cheers for Dawkins every single time he makes a play, just as a FU to the management that allowed for one of the greatest players in the history of the franchise to leave. I also hope that he breaks every rib in McNabb's body, but that's another discussion.

Just for thet heck of it:

Welcome back, Weapon X.

Apparently SunLife has gotten someone in Florida to listen:

Naming Rights to Dolphins Stadium After Jan. 5

Sun Life Financial, a Canadian-based financial services company, is in serious discussions with the Dolphins about acquiring naming rights to Land Shark Stadium, two sources said Wednesday.

One source said talks are advanced and an announcement could come after the holidays, though both sources stopped short of calling it definite.

A Sun Life representative declined to comment, and the Dolphins declined to discuss the likelihood of the stadium becoming ``Sun Life Stadium.'' Team chief executive officer Mike Dee said, in a statement, ``We expect to have a formal announcement later in January regarding the stadium's name for the Pro Bowl, Super Bowl and beyond.''

And rumor has it that before Joe passed away, there were (or are road signs) which say Dolphins Stadium.

EDIT: The FedEx Orange Bowl tickets are printed, but I believe that both the Pro Bowl and Super Bowl have already been printed too. With LandShark as the stadium name. The NFL should not be reprinting hologramed tickets this close to the game.

The name changes of that stadium are getting really annoying.

Why can't they just do something like name the stadium something like {INSERT LAME BIG MONEY NAME HERE] field at [iNSERT TRADITIONAL NAME HERE] Stadium?

I believe the guy you're talking about was actually a center, LeCharles Bentley, a Cleveland native and former Buckeye...and the only reason I can remember that is because I can recall him trying to petition the league to wear #00--which, of course, was shot down. IIRC, the guy said he would rather sit out a whole season rather than play another for the Saints, and that he wanted and was happy to play for Cleveland--that is, presuming we're thinking about the same guy.

That move didn't work out so well...

I don't think dude made it out of preseason the two years your Browns had him on the books.

Yup. It was LeCharles Bentley. There were a couple others as well. It was downright silly. And as usual, a complete failure.

Why was it silly? The guy was a great player in New Orleans and I was sorry to see him go. And he was a 'complete failure' because the poor bastard blew out his knee on the first play of his first practice in training camp. Not like he planned it or was a lousy player.

Shaun Suisham is 10x worse than Nick Folk

Di yo see the kicks which Folk made during warmups in the Superdome? He was all over the place in perfect conditions. He became a "Steve Sax" and could not do a thing. Folk also had hip surgery in the off season, so I assume our sports e-cyclopedia knew about that: Folk Gets a Hip Operation.

Outside of UFL kickers, only Steve Hauschka (BAL), and Suisham were available. Since Jerry is a Red Stater, he did not bring in Nick Novak. The 'skins got the #1 UFL kicker and guess what... he has missed already.

NBC is very happy to have the Cowboys as they still get ratings, period.

Heres a novel idea sign John Carney

Too late...he's going to play Yoda to Garrett Hartley's Luke.

Saints Sign Carney to Consultant Position

On another note...any doctors on the board? The Saints just announced that S Usama Young recently had sports hernia surgery. He's the 6th Saint in the last 15 months to have this surgery. What's that about? Could it be something they're doing in their weightlifting routines? Seems bizarre.

IIRC, he was one of the top FA lineman available that year. The Eagles coveted him, and supposedly he had agreed to a deal with them (sources reported that he actually signed, and it was reported on radio as a done deal) but then backed out to sign with the Browns. Because of this, I didn't shed a tear when he went down, but yeah - he was considered a really good player. Even with one leg, he'd have been better than Hank "Honey Buns" Fraley. What a fat, disgusting, unathletic mess he was (coincidentally, he ended up in Cleveland once it became clear that he was going to lose his job to Jamal Jackson.)

Go back and read all of my posts on the subject. Signing Bentley wasn't what I was calling silly. Browns management looking for "hometown players" was what I was talking about. The complete failure I was referring to was the failure of the Browns by thinking the way to get better was by signing guys who "knew what it meant to be a Cleveland Brown." It was silly and it failed miserably.

I was thrilled to get LeCharles Bentley. It sucked that he was hurt before he ever got to play a down.

San Diego's on the verge of locking up that #2 AFC seed and a first round bye. They lead Tennessee 35-10 at the start of the fourth.

San Diego Super Chargers :D

The Colts may be undefeated and have home-field throughout the AFC playoffs, but I believe the Chargers are the odds-on favorite to win the AFC. That's certainly one team that's not afraid of playing in Indianapolis.

It's unusual that two different monster storylines involving one team wait in the wings depending on how the playoffs go. If - and it's obviously a huge if - the Saints make their first Super Bowl, the odds are they'll face either the son of their most beloved player or the guy who made their QB expendable in San Diego.

In the meantime, we do NOT need Bill Cowher in the NFC South!

Bucs Looking to Cowher?
