Wow, thanks Bears! Not the way a team wants to end up with HFA but a great outcome nonetheless.

Now Week 17 gets more interesting for New Orleans. With nothing left to play for but perhaps momentum, do they rest the starters? Aside from the usual pro/con reasons, if you play the starters and lose, it's just that more of a downer heading into the playoffs. If you rest them and lose, well, you have an excuse (though of course you may have lost anyway with the starters).

At this point the overriding concern has to be preventing critical injuries, doesn't it?

Yeah, that's the biggest concern for the teams that have sewn up their positions. There's also the need to get those star players out there as to avoid any possible rust coming in when they have to play again in the Divisional Round.

I think momentum is crucial going into the playoffs. Its not so much maybe losing one game, but if you have rested stars for 2 or 3 weeks then, I think history has shown, it can be a struggle to get them to play in the playoffs. Do the Saints really want to go into a bye week on the back of 3 defeats? The Colts could go into the playoffs having lost there last 2 games to the Bills and Jets.

That being said I think the Colts at least are enough ahead of the rest of the league to not be so fussed about a little ring rustiness.

You can't be too mad at Peterson considering he's the one that got you all the way back.

And there's also the little issue of the uncalled facemask penalty on that play.

The officials seemed reluctant to make their presence known on either side.

The only good thing about having no draft picks is that you don't have to worry about a win hurting their positioning. And the small chance of Lovie getting fired after this season is probably gone now.

Wait - are you saying that you want Lovie back for next season? Because he still doesn't know how or when to call a timeout.

Not at all, I want Lovie and Ron Turner out too. But I think this win might save his job. The real deciding factor is probably the $11 million left on his contract.

It shouldn't, so it probably will. To understand the Bear, you must think like a Bear.

Saw a few things on a ticker at a sports bar.

Osi Umenyiora is looking to leave the Giants, and Ronde Barber threatens to retire if Reheem Morris gets canned.

If the Osi thing is true, I say the Bucs should look into it.

No way the Glazers pony up that kind of cash. Their lame soccer team is their main priority now.

It's sad but I don't blame them.

Most popular sports franchise on the planet, Manchester United, or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

I think that's an easy choice for allotment of funds.

Why would any coach subject himself to working for an owner who has shown that he'll meddle with the decision making, fire you for no reason, strip you of responsibility, and interview for your job while you still have it!!!

I get that some guys really just want their first opportunity, but they have to realize that they're setting themselves up for failure working for that idiot. The Redskins and Raiders are inarguably the worst run franchises in the league right now, and I cannot understand why any coach, let alone an "established" coach, would want to work for them.

Totally agree. Its not just the decisions you make, its the way you make them though, and this just seems incredibly classless. In a way I think the Redskins need a guy like Shanahan who won't stand for messing from the owner. I think actually things might improve on that front with Bruce Allen as a buffer between the owner and the coach.

Odd way to let it out but it looks certain Jim Zorn is on his way out in Washington.

It's a shame, too. I like Zorn.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Zorn TOLD who his staff was going to be?

My hope is that on Sunday, Lovie expends three timeouts in the 3rd quarter trying to change a 4th and 4 to a 4th and 2. If you're gonna go out, go out big.

All I want to see is no Eagles on the Pro Bowl roster. Thankfully, there's none this year that truly deserve it.

Except for the guy who was selected to represent the NFC at two positions. DeSean Jackson is one of the starting WR as well as the KR.

Oh, and except for the NFC's 'starting' fullback, Leonard Weaver.

Oh, and except for starting tackle, Jason Peters.

Oh, and except for kicker David Akers.

Oh, and except for reserve LB Trent Cole and CB Asante Samuel.

now he's going to tell you his definition of "truly deserving it" which will coincidentally not include any of the guys you mentioned.

DeSean dropped some passes along the way.

Weaver and Peters missed some blocks.

Akers missed 4 FG's.

Cole and Samuel missed numerous tackles.

Those bums are clearly not deserving of going to the Pro Bowl....

its will, same guy who explained how the afc is more superior and it would be a waste if the nfc won
