rentz
The beginning of the end. I think I'm going to cry now.Well it's not that big of a deal, though ads on game unis are probably on the horizon.
Breakwood
The CFL has had advertisements on jerseys for years, and the on field product hasn't suffered.End of the world indeed
TalktoChuck
I don't mind if ads make their way to game uniforms, as long as the NFL handeled it the way the CFL did. Little ads that don't obscure the design of the uniform.
rentz
Well here's a thought. Instead of patches, how about some actual integration into the design? Because of the Heinz affiliation, every Steeler should wear number 57.
tajmccall
Its bound to happen, it didn't ruin soccer and I doubt it will be as prevalent. I'd rather it didn't, as I think they make enough money. But any rich person ever just laughed at that last statement. Hard.

DGivens87
Not to stray too far off-topic, but I find it interesting that the Bob Kraft-owned Patriots can find a branding sponsor for their practice threads, while Kraft's soccer club, the Revolution, are one of the few teams in MLS that remain without a kit sponsor. RyanB06
Interesting that there are two different patches - one for the light jerseys and one for the dark.
Cujo
At least they're limiting the ads to only the practice jerseys, unlike those tacky captain's patches the NFL introduced a couple years ago. Those need to go, stat!

patsox
The patches would look better if they were they same color as the jerseys IMO.
Don
whats the point of having Gillette as a sponsor for their jerseys when its already the name of the stadium?? do they really pay THAT much?

With that said...I guess this makes sense. Even though IT'S THE BEGINNING OF THE END! THE SANCTITY OF THE PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL JERSEY HAS BEEN BESMIRCHED! ROGER GOODELL AND HIS MERRY MEN! BigDmo
I'd love to see a team sponsored by Enzyte or Viagra, it would give me a good laugh
Waleslax
I'd love to see a team sponsored by Enzyte or Viagra, it would give me a good laughBecause having some soccer team sponsored by "Bimbo" isn't bad enough? drj983
Ugh . . . this is worse than expected. The sky isn't falling just yet, but there are cracks in the ceiling. As I've gotten out of my teens and into my twenties, I haven't purchased sports jerseys nearly as much as I used to, but you can mark this: I will NEVER buy a piece of team merchandise with a sponsor on it. (and no, Nike/Reebok/Adidas don't count - they are manufacturers, not sponsors).

Plus, they PAYa)team Xb)university Y c)league Z (Ever notice that "Reebok" is on the dasher boards for over the red and blue lines?)
