First cities to get a crack on expansion are Philly, Pittsburgh, Denver & somewhere in Southern California, although when I first read the article, I was like, how is this possible, then realizing that oh yeah, they bought the rights to the names, honestly, who didn't see that coming.

But no Soul or Crush as the previous owner own the rights to the names

You can't hold down the mighty Arena Football League. You can try, and try they did, but if you thought we'd live in a world without the AFL, you were wrong. Dead wrong.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

So what's the deal with the San Jose SabreCats? They seemed to be all for returning as soon as possible. Guess that's not happening.

I like the Barnstormers' unis because they're different. Otherwise, meh on the whole concept of arena football.

Bad news: the Barnstormers don't wear the shoulder wings or pants propellers anymore.

pants propellers

what

If you were serious...a 'barnstormer' was a stunt pilot back in the 1920's, so the team put goggles on their helmets, wings on their jerseys, and propellers on their pants. Damn them for doing away with such interesting design elements!

And yes, that's a pre-NFL Kurt Warner.

Phew. That's not where I thought they put the propeller.

I'm suddenly quite glad you don't post in the "Concepts" thread.

Also, FWIW I'm looking forward to taking in the Barnstormers/Shock game in Des Moines in mid-July (16th I think) on my Upper Midwest baseball vacation.

Haha, that's indoor football, not baseball!

I lost interest in indoor football when I found out that Winnipeg was once considering a franchise in the Niffle.
