A's wearing blue batting helmets and the sox wearing their regular helmets. I cannot imagine players wearing white shoes in 1929.

But, I like the effort overall. All the players, as far as I can tell, are wearing their socks high. I wish the sox would wear the home version of this sometime.

The serif SOX logo is almost as classic/iconic as the Old English one. The current uniforms probably aren't going anywhere (the Phillies have another '90s uniform that will probably become a Modern Classic, for better or worse; I say worse), but should the White Sox ever get back into the old White Sox spirit of replacing their uniforms at a Kleenex rate, they should give that logo another spin. It'd go well with the old C monogram they tried wearing in 2006, and maybe they could make a Chicago script that kinda matches it. Could be on to something here.

Totally agree. When I was a kid, I remember seeing that particular Sox logo, and wanting one of those hats like my life depended on it. Unfortunately, that was way before it was easy to get throwback stuff, and the only option I had was a leather-banded cap by (I think) M&N, for something like $40, which is cost prohibitive for a 9-year old. Fortunately, my life didn't actually depend on it. Unfortunately, once it got to the point that those hats were pretty common, and available in different fits, I had grown out of wearing hats.*

*the exception being my "Franchise" Detroit Tigers home cap, which I only use in place of a sweatband when I run. Needs to be replaced... possibly with a "Franchise" version of this Sox cap... or a pitchfork M's cap, if I can find it in navy instead of royal.

I don't know. While I like the old Sox logo, I think its a little too dated to be used as a regular. Its nice to see a few times a season as a throwback, but I don't think it would look good full time. I really like the current White Sox uniforms, as you said they are modern classics.

Wait a min.. didn't the Athletics also wear a logo of the blue elephant on the jersey from years ago?? I do know of it as I have PS2 MLB game which show one of the jerseys the A's have for wearing in game play (the 1929 version)?? I know the old style A is shown as well in old pics and more... but interesting thing...

1929 White Sox vs. Philadelphia Athletics.

A's manager dressed as Connie Mack - business suit a dress hat.

Go Sox!

I want to see the picture of the A's manager!

Geren then changed out of the suit and managed in a throwback uniform.

That's really too bad. That would really be something to see a manager run out of the dugout and get into the umps face in a suit and tie.

Well, you don't necessarily have to use the EXACT logo. You can tweak it here and there.

Like, say, making it into a 3-color logo with an outline, and adding in an arrangement of 13 stars inside the "S"? Could work.
