NCAA and NFL predictions with a twist.

Instead of just doing the usual "I think my team will go 10-6 or 9-3 etc. I thought it might be kind of cool to take the actual schedule of our favorite NFL and College Football teams and predict the outcome of each game. Once the season ends we can go back and see just how prescient or just how clueless we really were. No need to predict scores (unless you want to of course.) Just pick each game on the schedule.

It's not a contest so predict as many of your favorites as you'd like.

Here's what I think Ohio State and The Browns are going to do this season and how I think they'll get there.

Ohio State (9-3)

W - Navy

L - USC

W - Toledo (at Browns Stadium)

W - Illinois

W - @ Indiana

W - Wisconsin

W - @Purdue

W - Minnesota

W - New Mexico State

L - @ Penn State

W - Iowa

L - @ Michigan (Michigan is just due to win one. This is the year.)

Cleveland Browns (6-10)

L - Minnesota

W - at Denver (The Browns always win one early that they aren't supposed to just to tease the fans. This is that game.)

L - at Baltimore

W - Cincinnati

L - at Buffalo

L - at Pittsburgh

L - Green Bay

L - at Chicago

L - Baltimore

W - at Detroit

W - at Cincinnati

L - San Diego

L - Pittsburgh

L - at Kansas City

W - Oakland

W - Jacksonville (It's going to be about 4 degrees that day. Jacksonville with either be looking forward to the playoffs or looking to just go home. In either case, The Browns take this one)

This sounds like a good idea.

Washington [5-7]

LSU [L] (Whoever made this matchup ought to be kicked in the nuts for it)

Idaho [W] (Three things are certain: Death, taxes and U-Dub making Idaho their ho)

USC [L] (I really, really hate this matchup... It could ugly if the Men of Troy lose at Ohio State)

Stanford [W] (Outside of the BYU and Waz-Spew games, the Huskies played their best against the Cardinal)

Notre Dame [L] (Why do they even play these guys if they can't beat them?)

Arizona [L] (Last time 'Zona came to Seattle, they got burned alive by Locker)

Arizona State [W] (I call this a win because I know it'll anger Gary. :P)

Oregon [L] (Probably going to 'Quack' against the Ducks)

UCLA [W] (As a Husky fan, I want to see that weasel Neuhiesel get what's coming to him)

Oregon State [L] (Things got chippy last time in Corvallis... Let's see what happens this time)

Washington State [W] (It'll be a really cold day in hell before the Spewgars win three in a row)

Cal [L] (Two words: Jahvid Best.... *shudder*)

Seattle Seahawks (10-6)

Rams [W] [Lamb soup, anyone?]

at 49ers [W]

Bears [L]

at Colts [L]

Jaguars [W]

Cardinals [W] (Thanks for keeping the throne warm, Deadbirds... They'll take it back this season!)

at Cowboys [L] (Over/Under on balls hitting the Dallas Jumbo JerryTron is set at 2)

Lions [W] (Lose this game and I'll never be able to go home without constant salt in the wound)

at Cardinals [W]

at Vikings [W]

at Rams [W]

49ers [W]

at Texans [W]

Bucs [W]

at Packers [L]

Titans [L]

in the original "NFL predictions" thread, I had the Bills going to the playoffs. After watching 4 of their preseason games, my expectations have been lowered drastically. The starting offense has had 15 possessions, resulting in 9 punts, 5 turnovers, 1 FG. Trent Edwards looks awful. That being said, here goes nothing:

@ NE - L (Blowout)

vs. TB - W

vs. NO - L

@ MIA - L

vs. CLE - W

@ NYJ - L

@ CAR - L

vs. HOU - L

Bye Week (People calling for....gulp....Ryan Fitzpatrick to start, and Jauron to be fired.)

@ TEN - L

@ JAC - L

vs. MIA - W

vs. NYJ in Toronto - W

@ KC - W

vs. NE - L

@ ATL - L

vs. IND - L

That's it. 5-11. Bills draft Colt McCoy in April 2010.

Notre Dame (12-0)

NEVADA- Notre Dame outscores Kapernick and the Wolfpack for a 38-27 victory to open the season

Michigan- Notre Dame marches into the Big House and dominates the Wolverines (with yours truly in attendance), winning 34-3

MICHIGAN STATE- Notre Dame defends South Bend against Sparty in a close one, 24-21

Purdue- Notre Dame goes into West Lafayette, and defeats a terrible Purdue team, 41-0

WASHINGTON- Notre Dame faces a scare against the Huskies, but pulls it out with a late touchdown drive, 28-27

SOUTHERN CAL- Notre Dame finally wins one against the Trojans, 42-28

BOSTON COLLEGE- The week after beating SC, Notre Dame rises in the polls, and avoids a scare winning 35-31

Washington State- The ND offense is too much for Washington State, winning 49-24

NAVY- Navy looks to repeat their '07 performance, but falls 45-33

Pittsburgh- Pitt puts up a good fight, on their way to the Big East title, but falls in 3 overtimes to the Irish 45-42

CONNECTICUT- UConn marches into Notre Dame and leads 21-7 at the half before the Irish erupt for 34 points in the second half en route to a 41-27 victory

Stanford- The nation watches as the Irish take down Stanford 34-28 and lock up a berth in the BCS Title Game with Florida... where they proceed to lose 500000000000-0 :P

I agree with this, with the exception that I believe they beat Georgia Tech in the Gator Bowl.

Starting with NCAA

Syracuse Orange

-Minnesota L

-Penn State L

-Northwestern W (for some reason I'm feeling this)

-Maine W

-South Florida L

-West Virginia L

-Akron eh W

-Cincinnati L

-Louisville W

-Rutgers L

-UConn W

So 5-7 for the Orange, though honestly I'm being pretty optimistic with these predictions

New York Jets

-Houston W

-New England L

-Tennessee L

-New Orleans L

-Miami L

-Buffalo W

-Oakland W

-Miami W

-Jacksonville W

-New England L

-Carolina L

-Buffalo W

-Tampa Bay W

-Atlanta L

-Indianapolis L

-Cincinnati W

8-8 for the Jets

New York Giants

-Washington W

-Dallas L

-Tampa Bay W

-Kansas City W

-Oakland W

-New Orleans W

-Arizona L

-Philadelphia W

-San Diego W

-Atlanta W

-Denver W

-Dallas L

-Philadelphia L

-Washington W

-Carolina W

-Minnesota W (with the Vikings probably having a shot at the playoffs and Favre, well, doing the same as he did as a Jet in December)

11-5 for the Giants

EDIT: Post 500 woo hoo!

NCAA - Missouri Tigers 8-5 (4-4)

vs. Illinois (@ St Louis) W

vs. Bowling Green W

vs. Furman W

@ Nevada W

vs. Nebraska L

@ Oklahoma State L

vs. Texas L

@ Colorado W

vs. Baylor W

@ Kansas State W

vs. Iowa State W

@ Kansas L

And another trip to the Alamo Bowl, but this season was expected, Gary Pinkel continues to recruit great and expect 2010 to be a much better season and back to the days where Daniel was slinging it down to Maclin.

NFL - Green Bay Packers 11-5

vs. Chicago W

vs. Cincinnati W

@ St Louis W

@ Minnesota L (First game under the dome facing Favre, he'll get better hand)

Bye

vs. Detroit W

@ Cleveland W

vs. Minnesota W (Favre's first trip back to Lambeau him and the Vikes will leave crying)

@ Tampa Bay W

vs. Dallas L (Romo and his Boys will steal one on there way to a bad year in Dallas)

vs. San Francisco L (Upstart niners will give the Pack a run)

@ Detroit W

vs. Baltimore W

@ Chicago L (Chicago in December never seems to work out for the Pack)

@ Pittsburgh L (In what should be a battle of the defenses, the Steelers will force one extra turnover and that will be the difference)

vs. Seattle W

vs. Arizona W

NFC North Champs? and possibly the most dangerous team in the NFC

And until I see later the Irish will again be so close but then let it slip with inconsistency in the second half on there way to a 9-3 record and birth in the Gator Bowl.

But if you look at the schedule, you're telling me that we can't beat any of those teams? Also, I'd take out Minny but throw in a win against Denver. That said, you have us winning pretty much every game we have a chance at...

Georgia Bulldogs

@ Oklahoma State - Win (I don't trust a Big XII defense, and UGA's defense will be better)

South Carolina - Win (It'll be close, but SC doesn't have the depth UGA does)

@ Arkansas - Win (This has "hiccup" written all over it...Fayetteville's a tough place for visitors)

Arizona State - Win (ASU won't be much better than they were last season)

LSU - Win (LSU might be overlooking this game...LSU hosts Florida the following week)

@ Tennessee - Win (Tennessee's offense sucks...this will be a low-scoring, ugly game)

@ Vanderbilt - Win (Vandy will find ways to keep this close)

vs. Florida - Loss (It'll be closer than folks think, but UF's gonna be really stout on defense)

Tennessee Tech - Win (Finally, a breather in the schedule)

Auburn - Win (Auburn's gonna be mediocre for a couple years)

Kentucky - Win (UK's always a pesky team)

@ Georgia Tech - Win (Again, UGA's defense will be better. It'll also depend on what each team has got riding for them by the time this game comes up)

Atlanta Falcons

Miami - Win

Carolina - Win

@ New England - Loss

@ San Francisco - Win

Chicago - Win

@ Dallas - Loss

@ New Orleans - Loss

Washington - Win

@ Carolina - Loss

@ NY Giants - Loss

Tampa Bay - Win

Philadelphia - Win

New Orleans - Win

@ NY Jets - Win

Buffalo - Win

@ Tampa Bay - Win

Georgia goes 11-1 and plays in the Sugar Bowl. The Falcons go 11-5 and win the NFC South.

@MIA - L

I have them going 12-4. If they play as well as last season it could be higher. (14-2?) If they play like the last time they were defending champs or get some injury problems it could be lower (8-8?), but this really does look like a fairly easy schedule by NFL standards.

USC Trojans - 12-0 (6-0)

W vs San Jose State

W @ Ohio State (I've played against Matt Barkley. I've seen all the things he can do physically and mentally. The Horseshoe won't intimidate him.)

W @ Washington

W vs Washington State

W @ California (Close. I'm kind of worried about this game at Berkeley and Jahvid Best.)

W @ Notre Dame (Restoring the echoes my ass, Lou Holtz)

W vs Oregon State (The Rodgers twins won't sneak up on the Trojans this time, especially at home)

W @ Oregon (Close. I'm worried about this one in Eugene just as I am with the Cal game. Good offense and it's within those damn Oregon state lines.)

W @ Arizona State (Possible letdown after the Norte Dame and two Oregon games)

W vs Stanford

W vs UCLA

W vs Arizona

USC and Matt Barkley will get road tested early at OSU and Cal, but if the Trojans survive their tough road games at OSU, Cal, and Oregon and stay focused to avoid letdowns at ASU and 3-straight at home against the lower-end of the PAC-10, then USC will be playing at the Rose Bowl a few days later than normal this season for the BCS Title.

Indianapolis Colts - 13-3

W vs Jacksonville

W @ Miami

W @ Arizona (with me in attendance :D )

W vs Seattle

L @ Tennessee (There's something about Nashville that doesn't sit right with this team.)

BYE

W @ St. Louis

W vs San Francisco

W vs Houston

L vs New England (I really hope that they prove me wrong. It pisses me off that I even have to pick an "L" for this one, but that offense and their passing game is deadly. But I hope to high hell they prove me wrong)

W @ Baltimore

L @ Houston (See @ Tennessee, replace Nashvile with Houston. Every game in Reliant is close, and they probably should have lost last year if it weren't for Sage LOLsenfels.)

W vs Tennessee

W vs Denver

W @ Jacksonville

W vs NY Jets

W @ Buffalo (Could end up being a "L" depending on the Colts standing. They could have nothing to play for and want nothing to do with the Buffalo weather. If Jim Caldwell is as much like Dungy as we're led to believe, then that could be the case. Then again, I like what the Colts 2nd team is looking like in this preseason, so it could still be a W, nonetheless.)

Colts win the AFC South and get the 2nd seed and a bye, and then get a rematch with our friends from San Diego back in Indy. The Colts will avenge last year's loss (a game they should've won... grrrrr damn damn damn) in another classic of a game. This will be followed by another lovely rematch in New England. Peyton will get one more chance to exorcise his demons in Foxborough. He's won there in the regular season, but the playoffs are a different animal. Another NE/Indy playoff classic, that will again end in a New England victory (How much I hate typing that I can't explain. Again, I hope I am again proven wrong)... Or, Colts finally win a playoff game in Foxborough and return to Miami for another Super Bowl... And again, as any fan, I would hope for the latter.
