Little Caesers Pizza Bowl

If this results in the creation of a menu item called the "Little Caesars Pizza Bowl", then I'm all for it. I'd like to see if I can get drunk enough to eat that.

Shouldn't this be the Pizza Plate or Pizza Pan? Pizza Bowl just doesn't seem right.

Sounds much better than many others:

SAN DIEGO COUNTY CREDIT UNION POINSETTIA BOWL

PAPAJOHNS.COM BOWL (Really, do we need the .com?)

GAYLORD HOTELS MUSIC CITY BOWL

KONICA MINOLTA GATOR BOWL

R+L CARRIERS NEW ORLEANS BOWL

MAGICJACK ST. PETERSBURG BOWL (Sounds Communist!)

Besides, I love Little Caesar's. I was their mascot in high school! :D

No kidding, I really wish Hooters (local company, 1st location just north of St Pete, in Clearwater) would buy naming rights for the St. Pete Bowl and call it the Hooters Bowl.

Why? St. Petersburg was known as Leningrad during most of the USSR's existence. If anything, it sounds too czarist.

Oh, and yeah in Soviet Russia game plays you or something whatever.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Come on, man. It in Clearwater.

Won't be even thought of since the original "Hooters Six" now only operate the Hooters in Tampa Bay, Manhattan, Chicago, and the hotel in Las Vegas. All the national advertising is Hooters of America, the Atlanta company which took the chain national. They fight over rights and Atlanta owns all trademarks, but the founders have the rights to develop casinos, publish Hooters Girl calenders ($5.5-million worth this year) and wholesale Hooters foods to grocers (frozen wings, sauces, breading).

Anybody ever hear of the Little Ceasers hockey club? Started by the same owner as the Red Wings, a kid I played with here in Kansas made their team and got all the free orange and powder blue gear he wanted. They also got all the Wings old practice equipment. He said they would just throw all the equipement in a room and it would be a mad dash with the players looking for numbers like #19, #91, and #5.

What the hell is that guy doing on the right? Trying to be sexy?

Back on topic: True, Pizza!Pizza! Bowl would have been better, but what would have been best is The Little Caesar Bowl. Sounds legit to me.

I'm so down with the Pizza!Pizza! Bowl.

That could be possible if they can get a sponsor the International Bowl in Toronto.

I know the Blue Jays have a pizza!pizza! sign in their stadium that is not Little Caesar's...but LC's has been around since 1959 and "Pizza! Pizza!" has always been theirs.

In fact, this is their 50th Anniversary!

I'm well aware that Little Caesars has been around a long time, it's just that the Little Caesars in these parts can't use that slogan because of the 'pizza pizza' chain.

I saw, I came, I left.

Little Caesers is still doing enough business to afford a bowl game? Out west, most of their shops have folded over the past ten years.

In the Midwest, you can't beat 5 bucks for a large pizza. I'm just lucky the local Little Caesar's is on the other side of town.

Of course between the Red Wings and the Tigers, it's not like Mike Ilitch is going to run out of money any time soon either.

/Shame Indiana sucks. I might want them to play in this game.

You know, I just always worked off of the assumption that "pizza pizza" was Little Caesars. I just figured they changed the name for the sake of language compliance in Ottawa and Quebec, or something like that. Now to unravel the mystery of "Boston Pizza"...

Its nice of Mike Ilitch and crew to step up and take over sponsorship of the (former) Motor City Bowl.

As for the pizza...well, its not very good. Years ago it was awesome. When they figured out a way to mass-produce it quickly and sell pizzas for $5 each, well quality suffered. Its McPizza at best.

+1. This is a perfectly serviceable logo, even if the Pizza!Pizza! Bowl would have been one of the coolest bowl names ever.

And you made my day with the comments on the pizza. In the 1980s, LC was far and away the best pizza of the national chains (though back then, both Domino's and Pizza Hut were actually pretty good, too, back before each changed their sauces from tomato-based to sugar-based). LC had a really tangy spicy sauce, used excellent meats, and actually made quality thin crusts that didn't get all greasy and saggy. Somewhere around 1995, LC stores started to close all across the Midwest, and it seems that the company responded to declining sales with the following strategy: "Instead of making the best pizza of any national chain, let's try making pizza so bad that it will make Taco Bell taste like Tavern on the Green." Point is, I'd begun to think I was the only one left who could remember when LC didn't suck.

Now if I could only find other people who remember the time in '82 when a guy held the Washington Monument hostage and threatened to blow it up.

Am I the only person who instantly thinks of the "Pizza In A Cup" bit in The Jerk?

Marie: You live here? Oh, it's nice. Did you decorate it?

Navin: Yeah, I got all this stuff from the old Cup 'o Pizza place before they tore it down.

Marie: Good pizza.

[the two are eating pizza in a cup]

Navin: Oh, this is the best pizza in a cup ever. This guy is unbelievable. He ran the old Cup 'o Pizza guy out of business. People come from all over to eat this.

They seem to be doing just fine here along the Wasatch Front (due to the poor young LDS families). :P

Papa John's and Pizza Hut seem to be the only two games in town down here. Who knows, maybe the New Mexico Bowl can sell out, follow suit, and become "The Hut Bowl". :D
