DomTheAthlete29 675 Posted September 11, 2009 IMO, light blue pants are ugly. Doesnt't fit the era of baseball we are currently in, that was the past aren't we trying to bulid to the future? Along that note, I do agree and believe teams like the Royals, Tampa Bay, and Toronto should have light blue tops.
RETROJR79 36 Posted September 12, 2009 No one has suggested the Padres yet? They have that powder blue swirl in their logo, and could be a phase out of the sand colored roads that the players seemingly hate and play off the Chargers' love of powder blue...I was just thinking about the Padres I heard that they were going to go retro with thier alternate.
TBGKon 2,655 Posted September 12, 2009 Seriously, what started this whole ?powder blue? phenomenon and why do so many teams want to jump on the bandwagon? The Denver Nuggets made powder blue cool for hip-hop. That may have something to do with it.The White Sox in powder and dark blue might look interesting, but I don't know how many fans (or players) would want to be reminded of the late-sixties White Sox, who gave way to one of the worst teams in Sox history. And as long as the Cubs don't use the inverted-pinstripe monstrosity it would be OK.No major sport has less to do with hip-hop than baseball. I don't think MLB is taking fashion tips from other leagues either. I just think it's because so many teams used it in the past...and once someone had the stones to bring it back, then other teams said, "Well , let's get us some of this powder blue money, too!"I don't know, I think hockey might have a little less to do with hip-hop. Anyways, I for one am glad to see more powder blue, but I wish it was exclusively for road uni's. I would also like to see a variety of other pastels, like more sand (or khaki), pastel yellow, spring green, and varying shades of blue that can be lighter, brighter, or subdued with grey for a steely look. But then again, I've felt baseball has needed this kind of overhaul for a while now. One can dream?Kinda hard to tell in this pic, but if I remember correctly these Marlins roadies were a slight hint of tealish-gray.
cmm 386 Posted September 13, 2009 I'm going to guess the Rays get the powder blue alternate and new road grays that say Tampa Bay on them. Wasn't that the plan when they introduced the new name and uni's--wear Rays on both home and road for a year or two to remind people they're not the Devil Rays, then go back to Tampa Bay?
thespungo 197 Posted September 13, 2009 Kinda hard to tell in this pic, but if I remember correctly these Marlins roadies were a slight hint of tealish-gray.No, there's nothing in the William Henderson MLB style guide about that and it's also something I don't personally remember -- a lot of times older photos of a team's road grey uniform can be misinterpreted as having some light color.

No, it isn't the end-all, be-all authority. If that is the standard, then none exists. Even Okkonen isn't as thorough and accurate as we'd like him to be.Having said all of that, Henderson does explain that "grey" isn't the same "grey" for everyone, but he doesn't go into the differences between every team. He gives examples that show grey, purple-grey, green-grey, and blue-grey. He also gives "white" and "cream" the same treatment with side-by-side comparisons to show variety.I know the opinions are varied on the differences in shades of grey, but the one thing that the uniform COOLBASE Grey has shown us is that we are accustomed to each team's signature shade of grey. COOLBASE Grey's uniformity doesn't quite look "right" for everyone.

rev 0 Posted September 14, 2009 Hasn't anybody mentioned the Twins. They will be making some changes...could we be seeing something like this?Yes to that wordmark, but no to the powder blue. Also the red hats are done.

tajmccall 400 Posted September 15, 2009 Royals probably. Then Rays or Twins, maybe both. Really our only options. There are a good amount of Powder blues at the metrodome on any given night. It'd be very well received here. Rays and Royals are the easy choices, Twins being the darkhorse. Really your only options.
Bmac 892 Posted September 22, 2009 How about a sleeveless road jersey for the Twins? Probably not, but I would like to see it!

Brian E 388 Posted September 23, 2009 I can confirm 100% that the Royals are getting a powder blue alternate hat for 2010.i like it! i think it'll be a cool pairing with the jersey. Majestic, obviously not asking you to leak anything specific, but can you do, like, a blink once for yes, twice for no PM if ANYTHING is changing for the mets
