njmeadowlanders 162 Posted September 23, 2009 I can confirm 100% that the Royals are getting a powder blue alternate hat for 2010.i like it! i think it'll be a cool pairing with the jersey. Majestic, obviously not asking you to leak anything specific, but can you do, like, a blink once for yes, twice for no PM if ANYTHING is changing for the mets blinkPretty sad that if said blinking does involve dumping the blank unis it'll be the highlight of the Mets offseason.Unless you're blinking to mean change is abound in the front office. Then that's another story...It's actually neither (I'm guessing on the front office news though).OK then so my $'s on a vest or a new blue alternate...

The idea of them making a change which is neither ditching the black alt nor adding a blue one kinda scares me. I'm gonna guess that perhaps they either add or replace the current white alt with a cream color one like the fauxbacks they wore against the Giants.

WSU151 9,776 Posted September 24, 2009 I just hope the change Majestic is talking about is not the simple "Mets removing CitiField patch from uniform"
TrueYankee26 1,127 Posted September 24, 2009 Seriously, what started this whole ?powder blue? phenomenon and why do so many teams want to jump on the bandwagon? The Denver Nuggets made powder blue cool for hip-hop. That may have something to do with it.The White Sox in powder and dark blue might look interesting, but I don't know how many fans (or players) would want to be reminded of the late-sixties White Sox, who gave way to one of the worst teams in Sox history. And as long as the Cubs don't use the inverted-pinstripe monstrosity it would be OK.No major sport has less to do with hip-hop than baseball. I don't think MLB is taking fashion tips from other leagues either. I just think it's because so many teams used it in the past...and once someone had the stones to bring it back, then other teams said, "Well , let's get us some of this powder blue money, too!"And that's just crappy mainstream hip hop...But that's only hats, I don't see too many hip hop artists wear throwback baseball jerseys lol
Jigga 40 Posted September 24, 2009 So just because rappers wear baseball caps it means that MLB makes caps for hip-hop? Okay...sure.
BryanSmalls 111 Posted September 24, 2009 So just because rappers wear baseball caps it means that MLB makes caps for hip-hop? Okay...sure.Of course, MLB dictates to New Error Craps what logos, designs and colors to use for all their baseball hats.
SilverNRed 0 Posted September 25, 2009 So just because rappers wear baseball caps it means that MLB makes caps for hip-hop? Okay...sure.Has there been even one rap video in the past 10 years without an MLB cap or an MLB fashion cap?Plus the throwback jersey movement was pushed by hip hop artists in a big way.
Puckguy14 61 Posted September 25, 2009 They are selling these at the Giants' Dugout store at AT&T Park
FiddySicks 11,202 Posted September 25, 2009 So just because rappers wear baseball caps it means that MLB makes caps for hip-hop? Okay...sure.Yeah, that's exactly what I'm saying. Walk into Lids next time you're at the mall. And on the orange Giants jerseys, those are just fashion jerseys worn by some of the staff at AT&T park (with black baseball pants to boot). I've seen several alternate fashion jerseys since the new screen print style came out.

A good sign I hope...
JayJaxon 186 Posted September 25, 2009 That orange Giants jersey does not look bad at all.
the admiral 28,759 Posted September 25, 2009 Yes it does. The Giants shouldn't be wearing orange as a base color, and shouldn't be wearing anything that takes away appearances from their top-notch home and road sets.
FiddySicks 11,202 Posted September 25, 2009 They are selling these at the Giants' Dugout store at AT&T Parkladies and gentlemen, we have our first leak (it's very close, at least).Wow, so they're finally getting an orange jersey. Now I'm excited. Strange though, those jerseys have been for sale at AT&T park at least all season.
BBTV 20,136 Posted September 25, 2009 So just because rappers wear baseball caps it means that MLB makes caps for hip-hop? Okay...sure.Absolutely. But only the crap mainstream hip hop that you listen to, not the NoCal underground hiphop scene. Their hats are much cooler.
BallWonk 2 Posted September 25, 2009 Yes it does. The Giants shouldn't be wearing orange as a base color, and shouldn't be wearing anything that takes away appearances from their top-notch home and road sets.I have to agree. For the Giants, this is the wrong look. It's a surprisingly nice jersey, but just not right for the excellent brand identity the Giants have built with their unis. Now, if the Marlins really do switch to orange and black, this is the direction the Marlins should go: Orange as the primary color, black as the secondary.
BBTV 20,136 Posted September 25, 2009 LOVE that shade of orange... but unfortunately, I have to agree with Ballwonk here (and that hurts a little .)I think of the Giants as BLACK orange, and the Orioles as ORANGE black. I really hope the Marlins can come up with a third color (like whatever blue they're talking about for the seats in their new park) to pair with their orange and black, so that these two teams can stay unique.
