Picture courtesy of AL.com. I figured when Grant came he'd bring a new design with him. I like the simplicity (I'm assuming SOD). I read a rumor where the homes are grey, but I have no clue if that's even 1% true.

Yeah, that red looks too Wisconsin-y

It's not just the color. It also copies UW's use of Aachen Bold, one of the uglier fonts out there.

Alabama has been using that font on their basketball jerseys since the mid 90's, so i think it's more like Wisconsin copied them.

Aachen Bold is a good name for that font, because I always make a disgusted "acchhh" sound when I see it. The kinder, gentler, crappier Berthold City.

Remember a few years ago when the Alabama football team added houndstooth trim to their uniforms in honor of Bear Bryant? Not only should they adopt that permanently, but pass it on to the rest of the athletic programs as well. Then they'd have their own thing, like North Carolina has argyle. Maybe Mississippi can use tattersall. Possibilities endless. These look bland and cheap.

Another thing they could try, though it could look terrible once I actually render it, is doing a baseball-style jersey with the distinctive "A" on the right and the number on the left (though not in ugly Aachen Bold). This leaves a lot of empty space beneath it, though, and it might be illegal. You never know with the NCAA. Technically you're not allowed to go to the bathroom.

yeah, these need something to distinguish them as Alabama unis and not just another cookie-cutter of the SOD "clean" design...houndstooth would be nice, or maybe inclusion of something like this from the throwbacks:

And you'd be right. NCAA rules currently dictate that the uniform numbers must be centered on the jersey, which means nothing offset and inventive like what you described, nor does it allow for the classic design of a script with the number below and to the right.

Also, you're just going to have to wait and hold it until Myles Brand says it's okay. This could be a problem.

I miss basketball jerseys. I am not a fan of these sleeveless t-shirts masquerading as jerseys. I don't like it in the NBA either.

To me, traditional tank top jerseys look better. Besides these athletes are ripped, show it off.
