-LeRoy Butler and Edgar Bennett were teammates in high school (Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville), college (Florida State) and the NFL (Green Bay).

-Before Barry Bonds passed Willie Mays, the top three all time home run hitters (Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth and Mays) all began and ended their careers in the same city, but with different teams.

-Of MLB's six current divisions, the NL East and NL West are the only two that the Brewers have never been a member of.

During the 1943 NFL season, the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers merged operations and rosters due to loss of players to military service in World War II. The team was officially referred to as Phil-Pitt and was nicknamed the "Steagles" by fans. They played 4 home games in Philly and 2 in Pittsburgh and finished the season 5-4-1.

Does anybody have any photos of their uniforms or helmets?

-- The Saints also gave the Houston Texans their "first ever" win as a franchise, in a pre-season game, on August 10, 2002, losing 13-10.

-- They missed giving the Carolina Panthers their first-ever regular season win by one week. In 1995 the Panthers defeated the Saints one week after getting their 1st win against the New York Jets. I lost a bet on that; I predicted one of the two expansion franchises that year(Jacksonville and Carolina) would get some form of "first win" against the Saints (The bet was for a car detailing).

-- In 1996, the Baltimore Ravens got their second-ever regular season win against the Saints on September 29, 1996, winning 17-10.

which leads me to the best strange but true sports fact:

Yours truly, B-Rich, once saw two different NFL games in person on the same day: the afore-mentioned Saints-Ravens game in Baltimore in the afternoon, then a Redskins-Jets game in RFK that very same night.

:P

It is what it is.

I can't believe no one's mentioned this yet - including myself a few posts back - but...

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won their first Super Bowl in 2003, four years before they had their first kickoff runback for a touchdown.

No, but the 2009 Browns sure are. Oh, you meant literally.

The Chicago Cubs last won the World Series before the NHL, NFL and NBA even existed.

Even if the Cubs won the World Series in 1945 (the last time they appeared in the World Series), they'd still have the longest World Series draught of any active MLB franchise.

The Boston Red Sox didn't win the World Series between 1919-2003. The Chicago White Sox didn't win the World Series between 1918-2004.

And on the other hand, the Marlins won 2 in the first 10 years of their existence.

No because when the Irish came to Ireland and first came in contact with the leprechaun people, they didn't take their land away and force them to move west. Instead, the two groups learned to assimilate peacefully. However, certain tribes of the leprechaun refused to taint the pure blood and moved north into the forests of Ireland, only to be seen rarely, usually at the same time of a rainbows appearance and occasionally at the factories of Lucky Charms.

Despite being the all-time true home run champion with 755 homers, Henry Aaron never hit more than 47 home runs in a season and he only did it once in his career (1971 with the Braves). And also is the holder of the record (the one that really will never be broken IMHO) for most RBI's in a career with 2297 RBI's.
