College Basketball fact time...

-The only team among the BCS schools to never reach the NCAA's is Northwestern.

-The newly formed Great West Conference becomes the first conference whose tourny champ will NOT have an auto bid into the NCAA Tournament (Instead, the champ gets an auto bid into the CollegeInsider.com Tourny)

Any idea when they will get an auto-bid to the tourney?

In seriousness, 2020.

While I'm at it, the North Carolina State Wolfpack finished the season undefeated in 1973, without winning the NCAA tournament or the NIT.

Only two players have ever participated in the "finals" games of each the Little League World Series, College World Series, and the World Series. These two are:

Ed Vosberg

1973 LLWS: Tucson, AZ

1980 CWS: University of Arizona

1997 Fall Classic: Florida Marlins

Jason Varitek

1984 LLWS: Altamonte Springs, FL

1994 CWS: Georgia Tech

2004 and 2007 Fall Classic: Boston Red Sox

Also, in 1990, Varitek's high school baseball team (Lake Brantley HS in Altamonte Springs, FL) won the state championship and was ranked number 1 in the nation by USA Today.

In 1950, City College of New York (CCNY) won both the NCAA tournament and the NIT

Similarly, they defeated Bradley University in both tournament finals.

The National Hockey League has 4 teams that use a color in their nickname. What's strange about this is that all 4 of these teams play in the Central division.

- Columbus Blue Jackets

- St. Louis Blues

- Detroit Red Wings

- Chicago Blackhawks

and then the other team in the division, Nashville, has a color hidden in the name. pREDators.

weird, I know.

Eric Mangini is still an NFL head coach.

At least in terms of points scored, there is one team with a worse offense than the Browns. They play there home games in St Louis!

The Detroit Lions are conceding, on average, virtually 30 points a game.

Yeah, getting busted for recruiting violations does tend to get teams barred from postseason play, doesn't it?

Do you see the year in which the last post was made?

Anyway, more people have walked on the moon (12) than have scored against Mariano Rivera in the postseason (11).

In 1922, Chicago Cubs right fielder Max Flack and St Louis Cardinals centre fielder Max Heathcote were traded for each other in the middle of a doubleheader between the two teams on May 30.

For the love of God, please stop necromancing posts.

Only the San Framcisco 49ers Baltimore Ravens have played in more than 1 Super Bowl and not lost a Super Bowl.

Since someone dredged this thread from the depths, I felt compelled to update this post. :)
