Minor League Parks

So, in light of the other sports' ball parks being namechecked, which minor league parks have you crazy kids been to?

I'll go first:

INDEPENDENT BALL

CanWest Park (Winnipeg, Northern League)

Winnipeg Stadium, a/k/a/ "Deformity Field"

Wade Stadium (Duluth MN, Northern League)

A

Nat Bailey Stadium (Vancouver)

Huh. I thought I've been to more.

Once my son is old enough, I'm going to take him on a tour of a lot of minor league parks in the PNW; Tacoma, Everett, Bend, Portland, Eugene, Tri-Cities, maybe even into Northern California to check out some of the Cali League parks.

I find that it's a much nicer experience at a minor-league game; no one really goes to a baseball game to watch the game, they're there to sit in the sun, have a few drinks, people watch, and just have a good time.

And you?

Knights Stadium. Home of the Charlotte Knights. Located in Fort Mill, SC. 30 or so miles south of Charlotte. Concrete Jungle. That place is terrible..

For Great ballparks, BB&T Field in Myrtle Beach, SC, home of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans is a great park...I had a blast there, great food, cheap seats beside the dugout, and a great club...

As for the minor league baseball experience, I love it, it's cheap, awesome fun, and it caters to the avid Baseball fan like me, all the way to the guy just looking for cheap beer and laughs, with all the gimmicks...

Those are the ones I've seen games at. I've stopped by a few more. My dad, and I are planning to go on a 10 ballparks in 10 days tour for his birthday. We'll probably hit up the Carolinas, Tennessee, and Georgia.

I also enjoy the Minor League baseball experience. I miss going to games, we lost our Minor League team here in Orlando back in 2003. Hopefully Orlando improves Tinker Field and we can get another team back in there.

AA

Tinker Field- Orlando, FL. Previous home of the now defunct Orlando Rays(previously the Orlando Cubs, SunRays, & Twins), the team moved to Montgomery, AL in 2004(Montgomery Biscuits).

Sam W. Wolfson Baseball Park- Jacksonville, FL. Home of the Jacksonville Suns.

Five County Stadium- Zebulon/Raleigh, NC. Home of the Carolina Mudcats.

A

George M. Steinbrenner Field(formely Legends Field)- Tampa, FL. Home of the Tampa Yankees.

L.P. Frans Stadium- Hickory, NC. Home of the Hickory Crawdads

McCormick Field- Asheville, NC. Home of the Asheville Tourist.

BB&T Coastal Field- Myrtle Beach, SC. Home of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.

Brighthouse Field- Clearwater, FL. Home of the Clearwater Threshers(formally the Clearwater Phillies).

Roger Dean Stadium- Jupiter, FL. Home of the Jupiter Hammerheads and Palm Beach Cardinals(they share the facillity).

Been to my fair share of minor league parks (and worked at them, too). I love the minor league experience and think that, for the value, MiLB beats the pants off of MLB any day of the weak. I still love going to major league games, but it's nice to be able to go to a baseball game on a whim because tickets are only $8. Of the list below, Greenville has by far my favorite place.

Ind.

Citibank Park - Long Island Ducks (Central Islip, NY)

TD Bank Ballpark - Somerset Patriots (Somerset, NJ)

College Summer

Capital City Stadium - Columbia Blowfish (Columbia, SC)

Single A

KeySpan Park - Brooklyn Cyclones (Brooklyn, NY)

Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park - Charleston Riverdogs (Charleston, SC)

Dunedin Stadium - Dunedin Blue Jays (Dunedin, FL)

Fluor Field at the West End - Greenville Drive (Greenville, SC)

BB&T Coastal Field - Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Myrtle Beach, SC)

Double A

NYSEG Stadium- Binghamton Mets (Binghamton, NY)

Prince George's Stadium - Bowie Baysox (Bowie, MD)

Triple A

The Diamond - Richmond Braves (Richmond, VA)

Although i've never been there, I would love to visit Fluor Field, aka Mini Fenway... :)

I'd also like to see Autozone Park, the images i've seen of that place are gorgeous...

It was really nice and made even nicer by the BBQ Nachos.

Back in 2004, I went on a little road trip, and got to see 7 games in 7 cities over 5 days, 6 of them at minor or indie parks. That was a great time.

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.

I've only been to three....Reading, Harrisburg and Lancaster. I like going to Lancaster, mainly because the Atlantic League has so many former "semi-stars" from the bigs. I got to see Edgardo Alfonso, Dante Bichette, John Rocker, Daryl Ward, Bo Hart and Ryan "I replaced Cal Ripken one game. That's it." Minor play, among others. I also met George "The Animal" Steele at a game, strangely enough. I like to get outfield (grass) seats, and there's a bench right next to the fence. I've sat with my feet on the outfield fence several times.

The stadium names change so often I can't keep up so I'll just list the home team

IL (AAA):

Buffalo Bisons

Ottawa Lynx

Syracuse Chiefs

EL (AA):

Erie SeaWolves

FSL (A):

Clearwater Threshers

Dunedin Blue Jays

Lakeland Flying Tigers

Tampa Yankees

I've liked every minor league ballpark I've been to... Erie may have been my favourite of the bunch though.
