And now everybody's just hovering their finger menacingly over the button.

If this keeps up, somebody's liable to slip and then...

Whoops.

I'm sure A&M has noticed that Arkansas, a program that they are roughly analogous to, has made 3 trips to the SEC Championship game in their time in the league and also been to a couple of major bowls. If Arky can do so, why can't they?

Three trips to the SEC Championship game in 20 years is hardly something to aspire to.

Considering there's 6 teams in the division, with a level playing field, each team would be expected to make the Championship game 3 1/3 times over 20 years. I'd say they're doing just fine.

I was just about to post this. Not only that, but 3 teams have never been in the SECCG and until last year, that figure was 4...and 3 teams (Florida, Alabama, Tennessee) account for more than half of the appearances.

It's no cakewalk.

Here is something else which does not make immediate sense for aTm.

1- aTm was not worried about Longhorn Network, but more worried that the UIL, who oversees Texas public school high school sports, is under the University of Texas System

2-In the last four years, the Aggie athletic department has run had to borrow money from the TAMU system. If they leave the Big XII, they would have to pay a similar "leaving fee" that Nebraska/Colorado did. $9 million.

Nebraska had a $7M surplus upon reaching their agreement.

Last month, in interviewing the aTm AD, the SportsBizMiss forgot to mention the line of credit which they have to pay off or the fee they would have to pay when leaving.

In regards to 2-please note how the SEC will be re-negotiating their TV rights and how said buyout suddenly ceased to be a problem when the Big Ten and Pac 12 dollars flowed into their respective coffers.

will be and current are not the same

Nebraska had a surplus and could afford not to accept this year's Big XII football money since their share in the B1G may be greater than their existing. Same with Utah, leaving the MWC won't cost them as much as they will make immediately; Colorado is another story in that their exit fee of about $7M came as the department is not doing as well as Nebraska as the current Pac-10 contract now has to be split 12 ways.

The new Pac-12 TV money and cable contract does not start until next year, so seeing cable revenue may be up to 18 months out (minus the start up costs which the Pac-12 incurs since they own it 100%). This season the Pac-12 will average just $5M/school, but they divided this contract on the number of TV appearances a team makes in a season.

When Utah left it cost them nothing so they will definitely make more than they lost. It wasn't until after TCU, Utah, and BYU left or announced they were leaving that the league adopted it's $5 mil penalty for leaving.

Take this with a grain of salt.

I have no formal source to include in this except I know an insider and the move for Texas A&M to the SEC should be announced on or around the 31st. The finances and cost have been worked out between the two and that was what really was holding the SEC back from just coming out and taking A&M last week. The hope is that once A&M jumps ship, another school will be willing to do so quickly. Again, this is coming from an insider source, whether you want to believe it or not is up to you.

No s**t, you guys too? I started my own school last weekend, Sawmill Pond College, and we also just signed a major deal to join the SEC before the 2013 season.

They just want Dan Beebe to know that they are interested and that last time they were not as ready to lobby for status as Baylor was. Since the conference is headquartered in nearby Irving, SMU could have just sent either a Cookie Bouquet or an Ediable Arrangement to the offices and another one to C-USA (1.5 miles away) saying, "No Hard Feelings, but they are prettier". Just one trip for the delivery driver.
