the U

Maybe their "boosters" and players but Miami doesn't have money. Hence why they only have decent facilities and no on-campus stadium. Hell, they used a 20k high school/soccer stadium for their spring game.

This is the death of the Big East. With Pitt and Syracuse going to the ACC and Boston College already there, look for UConn and one other school to apply to the ACC to create a 16-school 'superconference.' There's no way the conference survives that.

There's talk that 8-10 schools have applied the the ACC. It's possible that just Cuse and Pitt were the only leaked names.

Contacted, not applied. The ACC has been contacted by 10 schools but so far only Pitt and Cuse have applied.

SMU would like you to know that they are not choosy.

Big East schools?

Pitt, Cuse, UConn, Rutgers, South Florida, Louisville, Cincy, WVU?

Texas has become one of the highest money-making entities in College Football. Though you can say the same about the players at Miami, Nevin Shapiro just doesn't pull the same weight as Bevo does.

Actually Miami doesn't have that much money behind it. It's a small private school with a middling-to-poor fanbase. Their one advantage was their immediate access to South Florida talent and a willingness to turn a blind eye to any NCAA violations/criminal escapades on the part of the players.

The boosters' money more than made up for it, though.

West Virginia is not going to the Big Ten. Bank on it.

Also, there is the rumor which has not been confirmed after a week. It was that both Texas and Notre Dame went to Chicago to meet with B1G officials to jointly propose their case to join the league and how to split their revenues starting in 2014.

I am certain of one thing in terms of realignment. Little, if nothing is certain.

It's not going to be comfirmed because its from a guy who spent all of last year making crap up.

...in terms of football, yeah.

If they want to stay viable for football, the ACC has to be proactive about expansion. With Clemson and Florida State keeping an eye towards the SEC, the ACC has to give them a reason to stick around.

Now there's word that the Big East has contacted the 7 remaining schools in the Big XII (excluding Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M) about joining their conference.

Next week could be fun, if not frenetic about expansion and all the rumors that come of it.

8-10 schools in general. Texas and maybe Texas Tech maybe the other 2. It has basically been confirmed that Texas has talked with the ACC, I would guess their little brother has had a conversation.

I read in the espn article about Cuse and Pitt that the ACC has upped their buyout for leaving the conference to $20M which would all but squash any chance of FSU and Clemson heading to the SEC.

Any school is one big alumni/donor check away from leaving. S/he may not cover all the costs, but they could cover most of it. Plus, they would still have to be voted in.

As for the ACC, their current TV contracts are still larger than the new ones negotiated by the Big XII.

If the ACC acts before the SEC does, then all hell does really break loose. It seems that they will since the Baylor lawsuit is still in play. "all hell" being every school from Lubbock, TX and east.

If this all goes through, hopefully the ACC would reorganize it's football divisons. Potentially......

ACC North

Boston College

Maryland

Pitt

Syracuse

Virginia

Virginia Tech

UConn/West Virginia/Rutgers (2 of these 3 would be the most logically choices IMO)

ACC South

Clemson

Duke

Florida State

Georgia Tech

North Carolina

North Carolina State

Miami

Wake Forest

Hotter Than July > Thriller
