2010 MLB Stars & Stripes Caps

Not sure I care for the general concept of white-crowned caps but I do like having some caps using red and some blue, since that should provide a better match with each teams uniform.

No offense, but I like the idea of each team wearing their regular cap instead of a bunch of caps designed to give a "portion of the proceeds" to charity and the rest going into the pockets of New Era, MLB and the teams. Money grab.

If MLB and New Era wanted to honor the troops, they'd take last year's profit margin off these caps, match that this year and not make the caps for this year.

Not to sound insensitive, but what alot of people here (and elsewhere) forget is that, like it or not, New Era and MLB run a business. New Era is spending alot of time and resources producing these hats, so why shouldn't they profit some off of it? MLB is putting an authentic product out there with their copyrighted marks on it, should they not see some profit either? I think its great that theyre putting something out there where they can take in a few extra bucks and put it towards a good cause. I'll never knock anyone who donates money to anything. Just because the whole thing isn't going towards Veterans doesn't make it wrong. Why does everyone always feel the need to be the moral police?

And to the last post about the American flag, the reason all of the National/Olympic teams wears navy blue instead of royal blue is because it better reflects the true colors of the flag.

I like these, but only for the teams that will actually match in them. Are the Twins the only team that wears the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, etc. caps? I can't find any pics, but I'm sure they're out there. I think the players pick which cap they want to wear and that's what they wear for the game.

Edit- Morneau in an Army cap.

I was at that game last year, but I didn't get any good pictures. It was weird to see everyone with a different cap on.

I got a picture of Punto in his white hat, but it's not too great:

If that is the back of the Blue Jays hat...I LOVE IT! :D

Probably isn't. Most likely just a stock photo of the back of one of the other red billed hats that they put up without thinking. Were the prior ones done what way too? or were they red-white-red?

I'm picturing the Angels at home on 4th of July wearing the sleeveless vests and the white alternate cap. Yeah, I think that would look absolutely terrific. If this looks as good as i expect it to, the Angels should seriously consider a white alternate cap. They're the perfect team for it.

Teams like the Giants are going to look awful, though.

yeah i think quite a few teams will end up looking pretty good. the angels will definitely be one of them. other teams whose color scheme the blue or red matches will probably look best at home (for example, i think the yanks will pull it off at home. on the road...not so much).

there probably isn't anything you can do for teams like the a's, rockies, giants etc. for this to look good. but seriously, the thing that frustrates me the most is for teams like mets and royals who COULD look good, but the navy/royal clash is just brutal.

So I just found these on the MLB shop. I'm probably just reading too far into this, but this could be an interesting look...

  • 3 weeks later...

Why don't any teams use white caps at home? It can look very good with a team like the dodgers.

Agreed, just imagining the options out there, here are the teams I can see pulling off a white alt cap:

- Cardinals

- Angels

- Dodgers

- Reds

- Nationals

The Cardinals looked excellent in them yesterday (from afar). I'm not a fan of the logos themselves, because the outlines are so chunky. If they got rid of the outline they'd look a lot better. Anyways, not something I'd want the Cards in every day, but they looked sharp for a one (or so) off.
