This one (Moscow 2012 Bid) strikes me as looking like it is flipping me off...

This one is cool, even though I'm not sure what it is.

Nothing better than an animated logo.

Does EVERY city-with-nothing-else-to-brag-about build a needle/tower so it can be in every damn logo?

You have GOT to be kidding me. I can't believe I went to college for four years to study graphic design and become a professional when there are absolute amateurs that apparently know next to nothing about design that are being commissioned to design logos for the OLYMPICS!

The ones for Reno, Salzburg and Andorra are quite possibly some of the worst logos I've ever seen and they're being used in association with the Olympics... Are there any REAL DESIGNERS doing any logo work these days??

I wouldn't neccessarily trust that all these bids and logos are accurate. I'm sure a lot of them are, but the 2012 Pittsburgh "bid" was really just a school project by some Carnegie Mellon student that's been mistaken for an actual bid. The site's been around for years (since I was a student at Pitt) and hasn't even been updated (it's pre PNC Park, Heinz Field... it refers to Three Rivers and Pitt Stadium, neither of which exist any more).

Reno-Taho 2004? I didn't mind this one.... it is a little plain, simple... but that has a certain charm. There are MUCH worse on this site.

Salzburg - looks like it sou;d be for a Jazz-Fest or something. The type is horrible.

lg2010bs.gif

Andorra.. without a doubt, the worst excuse for a logo ever. Powerpoint/frontpage anyone?

I can't believe such cities as Baltimore & Cincinnati think they actually have a chance at landing them!

why not.. Salt Lake City got one, who would have thought that would happen till it actually did.

Don't be a dumbass! The Winter Olympics are clearly different than the Summer. Salt Lake City is the biggest city to host the Winter Olympics to date. That'll change in 2010 when Vancouver hosts it though.

Keep in mind that Salt Lake City is also one of the most popular places to ski in the world. Why would Salt Lake getting them be such a shock?

Salzburg was the home of Mozart (I think)

The home of mozart.

OK.

and?

why on earth would this be a part of their logo for a SPORTING EVENT?

Mozart was also known as a top notch biathlete in his day. The "Amadeus Maneuver" was named in his honor.
